My offer from CPW, your thoughts please

Options
Hi
Ran CPW retentions today to ask for my PAC code as I am thinking of transferring to O2 themselves instead of through CPW.
They have offered me a Nokia 6500 classic with 750 mins and 100 texts for £35 per month and £200 added to my account.
What are peoples thoughts on this. I have been with them for at least seven years.
Looking on CPW on the internet you can have the same tarif with a free tv. Having £200 instead of the tv doesn't make me feel that I am gaining anything really to what anyone could get.

Your thoughts please, I am so behind on phones, been doing my house up and had no time to look.
I am wanting a Nokia so any thoughts on which one

  • hi

I had the 6500 slide and, although it was a good looking phone, the signal was rubbish. I would be talking to someone and they couldn't hear me! I sold it and now have a nokia n95 8g courtesy of a phones4u upgrade. It is a great phone. I have a full signal wherever i am and it looks good!

OH, and it came with the full Spiderman 3 film loaded on it...
I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)
  • Hi there,

I too am a CPW customer, facing an upgrade. I've been offered a K850i on o2 35 for £25, so 600 mins and 500 txts I think. However, I didn't want the K850i after having seen it in use, but CPW retentions were unwilling to give me anything else.

FYI i'm currently on a £35 tariff, but pay an average of £85 a month due to data and international usage.

In terms of the phone, it depends what you want from your phone - I'm in a quandary, ideally i'd like the Nokia e90, as it fulfils the business role i need, but it's like a house brick, and I could browse the internet, check mail etc on any phone with a big screen. The Nokia N95 8gb has been released, but again retentions wouldn't give me a deal on this, which I partially understand as it's just been released - but i'm disappointed that my custom gives me no leverage at all.

Personally regardless of th ephone or the offer I would give CPW a wide berth unless you can get the full offer, including all the automatic cheque backs or line credits in writing beforehand.

CPW appear to have started to have major problems even with retention deals, and what you get offered on the phone might not actuyally materialise later, and they rarely, if ever, are prepared to put the offer in writing.

My retention deal last year was not adhered to and due to family problems I didn't question it in time and eneded up paying the equivalent of £10 per month too much. Even my automatic cashbacks neeeded to be chased on an expensive 0870 number and were three months late.

Go for N95, get a deal on that - in my opinion the 8GB does nothing the N95 cant except a larger screen & since its 8 months old you should get a good retention deal, then ask them to throw in a 8GB Micro SD card

CPW use generic phones so upgrading to the latest Nokia software from them on a N95 makes the phone a blast, laptop ? no I carrry my N95

data and international usage prob makes CPW minimal profit considering they have to pay o2 rates to o2 albiet slightly discounted & they keep that discount as profit, if your domestic use goes far over your £35 tarrif they'd prob give you the 8GB version as this is where they make the money buying cheap UK airtime from o2

go N95 you wont regret it
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Bigger screen and a significantly bigger battery...

  • I agree with TomJ a bigger screen is all the worthwhile..but problem is bigger screen usually means battery dies faster..you could opt for a hi capacity battery..
  • CPW are having real problems with everything. I have never gone back to CPW to buy anything after the horrible experiance i had with my phone, contract, chequebacks and things that i was told are part of the deal but like above never actually turn up. I would say that for the better go direct with a network. I would also if i was Orange etc get rid of doing deals through these type of outlets as it causes them nothing but greif. I know someone who works for a network and they have complaint after complaint about cpw and the others.
    end the tv tax
