Quick question...when porting a mobile number (contract to contract), does the name on the new account have to match the name on the old one?
The background is that for various historic reasons, both my and my wife's mobile phones are in my name. Given we're about to change contract again, I wondered whether it would present any issues if I took my wife's contract out in her name, hence would end up porting a number from an account in my name to one in her's. Is there a name check done as part of the porting process, or do they simply rely on the PAC to assert one's identity?

I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

Nope can be in any name, you are only transferring the number and nothing else to do with the contract or it's history.Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...0

I don't think the account name is traded; in fact I'm not sure there's any direct contact between the networks, all done by you.
I've even operated a PAC for a friend abroad and sent him a new SIM with the number transferred to it. The old network would let me do this if either I knew his registered details or we could put it in my name if not already registered. The new network just accepted the PAC and I didn't register the SIM at all.0
