AOL to Start Charging for Helplines

I just got a message from AOL to say that they will be charging for people to call their helplines, which are currently 0800 (freephone) numbers, from August 1st.
Worst still is that they are discriminating by saying that AOL Talk customers will be able to call for free still.
So basically now the general public will have to start paying for their below-par service.
I for one have started to get annoyed at their constantly crashing software, dodgy connections and bad customer service.
I know what i will be doing at the end of the contract...
Any thoughts? What is your AOL connection like?
Ian
PS. I know that other companies charge for their call centres, but an attraction of AOL was their free helpline so if my parents did ever need help regarding the internet they could do it easily - I am sure many other people are in the same situation, and well i feel it is a great let down by AOL.

As this is a service change to your detriment, you may be able to cancel the contract now without penalty.0

I emailed AOL telling them how unhappy I was about the proposed charge and suggested to them that they were trying to force customers into subscribing to their telephone package ( because then they would not charge for support). They replied that as it was a change in the contract I could give them 30 days notice to quit!! Helpful or what?0
