Help I need to a cheap summer holiday

Hi

We are on a really tight budget this year, but have had such a rubbish year (last year) really really need a holiday. We have 2 children 5 and 1 and am looking for anything abroad. Was thinking of the teletext holidays but a bit scared incase they let you down. Has anyone done one of these or does anyone know best place to look for cheap holidays.

Thank you

We had some lovely cheapish holidays in Brittany when our children were little. We either stayed in ready-erected tents on super camping sites or in gites. If gites then we chose ones with accomodation for a few families on the same site so that the children had friends to play with... and we had some adult company with whom to share a glass of the local wine in the evenings! One big advantage is you can go by car ferry so don't have to fly with small children... a nightmare in my opinion!

I have a few family members who have used teletext. I tried once but the big letdown was that most of the offers that were on screen had already gone... and then they started trying to sell alternatives...

Mostly I book flights and hotels/apartments separately online, though I have booked one or two cheap package deals with Thomson and Thomas Cook. Thomson have some cheaper deals where you get allocation on arrival but you know in advance which three hotels it will be picked from.

What sort of dates/locations did you have in mind?
  • We booked our last holiday thru' this company. http://www.greatlatedeals.co.uk/default.aspx
No troubles with them. I liked it because I had all the convenience of the internet but could organise and pay for it over the phone (0845 number as I recall). No extra charges for debit card and english people to speak to :j .

  • I did a trip to Holland last August and was very impressed. You could either drive and use the ferry, or you could fly to Amsterdam and organise a transfer. I keep going back to Holland I love it that much. I booked a Dungalow at a place called duinrell.nl. You can get a four birth mobile home in the middle of August for £450. They are immaculate too. Have a look at their website. Brilliant for your age group of children as they have a theme park aimed at young children.
