I'm looking for an online butcher, either organic or free range.

I'm going to have a look at the ones recommended earlier this year but was wondering if anyone had any experience of the following....

    http://www.northumbrian-organic-meat.co.uk
    http://www.sheepdrove.com/
    http://www.rhug.co.uk/
    http://www.eynons.co.uk

So many to choose from on the web!!

    Any comments much appreciated

When I still lived in the UK, I used Somerset Farm Direct - the meat was fabulous, the service excellent (you could phone if you wanted something a little bit different and it was never a problem) and the prices quite reasonable.

This was about 4 or 5 years ago, though!

thanks v much, will look at them tonight
  • I have been getting deliveires from well hung meat and have been really happy with it so far.

The children took a bit of getting used to the sausages as the casing are quite thick.

I get the £85 monthly box.

Some examples of the contents of boxes I have had in the past are here:

I have lamb exclueded from my box because the OH is allergic.

I have also had meat and fish from Abel and Cole and that has been good too.

I used to get meat through Natoora from Wellhungmeat (as Natoora often do £10 coupons) but I don't think thay stock Wellhungmeat anymore.

Jack O'Shea is good qulaity but v. pricey

When I ran an Organic Farm shop we used Graig Farm as our suppliers they are very good.

  • i'd recommend Jimmys farm (yes the guy off the telly) his sausages are to die for, so meaty and full of flavour, my mum gets a selection delivered every couple of months

Northumbrian organic sells the best meat I've ever tasted. I used to live in Northumberland where they came to our local farmers' market. The queue was always huge waiting for the stall to set up and they would sell out completely by 10am!

I haven't tried their online service so I don't know what that's like though.
  • We use Farmers Choice and are very happy with them - great quality, and any problems are swiftly sorted out.

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Sheepdrove is just up the road from me.
We bought a whole lamb from them a couple months ago and had it butchered - meat was delish, and we still have loads left in the freezer - but after buying it I did some research and we actually paid quite a lot for it, so I don't think I would buy from them again!

Thanks Ness. That has helped me make up my mind. They do look great but you are right, more expensive than most!!
