An eco settlement is going to be built at the bottom of our garden.
www.earthship.co.uk has a video on the construction process.......it's a bit difficult to find on the site but could be in media section and has a great american voiceover. It will be the first estate built by the company over here...under section saying "planning permission granted".
Sorry, am not a techy type so no links.
We only rent here, so I have been been passing the local protest stuff on to our landlady. PP has now been granted.
I confess that I wanted to sell our london home (made of bricks, glass and steel etc with garage and driveway!) and considered purchasing one of these homes.
OH said "you're having a laugh...am not swapping house made of bricks etc for one made of tyres, tin cans and old bottles"
The developer had a write up in The Standard couple of months back,......a 1 bed starts at £500k ( )
However, the locals' protests didn't prevent this PP....probably because earthship are building 16 homes to include 6 HA ones....the council have been overrun with potentilal HA applicants as these will only cost £70 pwk.
Apparently, the site has had a load of PP applications over the years....seems, now, that if it is an ECO devt, normal PP rules are bent.
Good luck with your protest....love the dog coat!!!!!!0 -

Just updating The Earthship devt DIDN'T get past the last stage of PP yesterday.
There are covenants on the land. It is in the hands of The Land Tribunal and could delay a decision by a few months.
It is a rubbish paper but Argus ran an article on it......
