If you expect City Link to be a courier that will take it from your supplier to their own local depot, you'll be fine.

Just don't expect they to deliver it to your house.

They're not known as Sh*tty Link for nothing.

Strangely I never have any problems with the CL driver in my area.

I thought we were the only ones to call them that!
nothing to see here, move along...

That's what I call them too after the fiasco of an amazon order before Christmas.

Guaranteed delivery before 1pm on the 22nd (£8.99 charge). Checked the tracking in the morning of the 22nd, on the van. Checked at 1pm, still on the van. Checked at 2pm, returned to depot as "incorrect address". Odd, since the address on the order is accurate and everyone else can deliver here. Phoned Sh*tty link, no answer, they are now shut. Press a series of buttons that will apparently hold the parcel at the depot. Phoned amazon to confirm that the address and phone number they supplied to citylink is correct, yes it is. Seethe all weekend.
24th Dec, phone citylink to confirm that they are holding the parcel for me. Lose the will to live after 47 minutes on hold. Check on website, and find that the depot is operating on reduced hours. Panic. Try to phone them again, still no reply. Panic again. Leave teenage son in charge at home, and drive 34 miles to the Citylink depot. Do you have my parcel?
    No, it's on a van.
But I pressed buttons! You are supposed to keep it here!
Yes, agrees the chap,it's supposed to be here, the computer says it should be here, but it's on a van.
It was supposed to be delivered on Saturday, but you marked it as incorrect address
That's right, the driver couldn't find your house, but it's ok, you will have it today
But you couldn't find my address on Saturday, are you going to find it today? That's ok, I know your village, I know where your house is
But you are not driving the van, you are here talking to me! Will the driver find it?
    He has an A-Z
But surely he had an A-Z on Saturday???
GrudginglyI'll ring him and give him directions if you want......

Drive 34 miles home. Ring amazon and get a refund on the courier charge. Pace up and down for several hours until the parcel turns up.

Still, at least I did get it in the end! It's a good thing I had the 24th Dec off work, or the parcel would have been returned to the depot again (or left on the doorstep).

I too have had this problem with CityLink.
Bought a laptop from eBuyer on the wednesday and paid for next day delivery. eBuyer dispatched that evening and I waited in all day on the Thursday. Tracking said carded but not card was left - no attempt to delivery was made.
eBuyer refunded me the next day surcharge but that was spent up on the petrol driving to the depot to collect my package.

IMHO - City Link are useless scum.

Ordered an item before Xmas for next day delivery.

Confirmation from the company that item had been dispatched.

Waited in all day, phoned the company after 5:30 pm to say that there was no sign yet.
They were told by CL that a delivery attempt had been made at 4:53 pm and a card left. Neither of these things happened - CL were lying.
Company arranged for delivery the next morning, but early afternoon still no show.
Apparently CL had forgotten to load it on van but it would be delivered the next morning. This was a Saturday - again no attempt was made to deliver.
Checked on Xmas eve and item was on van but no attempt was made to deliver it.

Xmas came and went and on the following Friday apparently they tried to deliver and left a card. They may have done - no-one was in, but again no card left.
Item was no longer of any use to me as the need for it had passed.

A further attempt was made to deliver on the 7th Jan, allegedly, but as I was not in card was left, according to CL. No cards were ever left by any delivery driver.

Company I had ordered from refunded my money and were in contact throughout apologising profusely but they were in the hands of the courier.

When item was returned to the company it was damaged!

City Link let me and my supplier down.
If that wasn't bad enough they lied about what was going on.

As I said - useless scum.
We all evolve - get on with it
  • I've had a dreadfull day thanks to City w*nk !!

I was waiting for a next day replacement mobile from BT as mine had developed a fault !!

I had to cancel an important hospital appointment to wait in !!

It never arrived and their system (as woman on phone found out) said it was logged as missing at 8.16am today !!

BT are going to try and sort City link out tomorrow BUT they are also going to make sure I receive a brand new phone (not a refurb as the one coming was meant to be) on THurs and NOT by City w*nk !!

Until I get that working mobile I am housebound as I am disabled and becuase of medical conditions cannot leave the house without a phone !!

City link just dont care full stop !!

Im so upset but its good to see others affected by these idiots !!

I caught them pulling up merely to record the door colour and drive off.
