You can adjust the keyboard delay in control panel, keyboard, to increase the time between one letter and repeating. the key sometimes not working i'm not sure about.

To be honest it does sound like you keyboard may be knackered. Have you spilt any fluids on it lately?

The compaq armada's are handy enough to get replacement parts for if you need it fixed. If you give me a shout with the model number ill see if i can source a keyboard for you.

Does your laptop have the pointer in the middle of it or do you use the touchpad (if it has one)

I have checked on the control panel keyboard icon and it says that the keyboard is OK, so could it be something else or a virus?

hi..i totally understand how frustrating can be this problem....my 2 years old toshiba laptop did exactly the same last week , ironically 2 weeks after expiry of 2 years waranty. I thought it was virus as i lose control of the computer sometimes and it start typing and opening files without me touching anything...pc world wanted £70 per hour just to investigate the problem (B***s)..i took the laptop to 2 different small computer repair shops and the both agreed that the keyboard need changing, although im very careful and i never had any fluid spillage on it...now im waiting for them to find me a second hand keyboard as a new one from toshiba will cost over £90.
