ScottishPower - monthly payments
Options
I have just had my annual bill from SP and I am a bit confused and was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.
I am on a capped rate dual fuel paying £65 pcm. I am currently in credit to the tune of £66. They estimate that my energy charges for the next six months will be £352 (circa £59 pcm) - and on that basis are proposing to increase my monthly payment to £94!
Obviously I need to ring them – but am I missing something here? Since I was £10 in credit at the end of the Winter I would have expected my payments to be reduced not increased.

You are not alone, Sim. I have recently received a £400 payment from SP for my in credit account, I know a bit daft letting it reach such a level! My annual statement arrived last week, still £60 in credit and they've increased DD by £2???
Methinks they are building up a nice investment pot from everyone by deliberately overcharging.

ring them up and request for payments to go down. I was in credit £80 and decreased payments by £15 per month. worked for me.0

I did the same some time back. Within a few months the dd's had crept back up to the original levels again and here I am back in credit once more.
If my supplier has a million customers and we're all in credit by, say, an average £30 each... that's a heck of a lot of our money they've got tucked away!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Finally spoke to ScottishPower.
The explanation for the proposed 45% increase was that the proportion of gas and electricity use was incorrect, so we had a massive credit for gas use and debit for electrical use. The SP computer "could not cope with the level of gas credit", so ignored it and had based an estimate on the in debit electricity portion.
Obvious when you think about it !!0 -
SP seem to make their numbers up as they go along!
I received my annual energy assessment this week & was in credit by £380. I ring them up to sort it out & it turns out that the meter reader has been reading my gas meter by mistake. No-one at SP has noticed my bills going backwards (ie I have used a minus amount of electricity) & now I owe them £250.
Incompetent bunch of fools0
