  • By claiming 'snake oil', one leaves open the following possibilities:

    1) You have an unusually good mains supply
    2) You have never used one
    3) You have never used one with anything other than inexpensive, low quality kit
    4) You dont know what to look or listen for

Most making such claims fall into category (2). In this scenario, one can make judgement solely on technical and theoretical grounds. Such an analysis (assuming you have the slightest idea what you are talking about) should clearly lead to the conclusion that there is a theoretical gain by using one of these devices, though YMMV depending upon other factors (i.e. mains supply, quality of equipment). Connect up an oscilloscope and it would be immediately obvious.

To doubt outright basically implies ignorance. If you have a decent system and are not daft enough to expect a night and day improvement, this device offers excellent value. If you like listening to music with the 'bass boost' applied or believe that setting the contrast and color on your tv at max, then you would be wasting your money.

FYI, I bought 3 to cover my whole system.

what garbage some people upload on this board.....my brother has 25 years power systems/telecoms experience and i have more than 20 years IT/Telecoms experience

in our opnion this is a waste of money like all surge protectors marketed to consumers....unlike ups', power conditioners/line conditioners which actually have some use

If you are getting electrical noise from central heating, lighting, etc....then tackle the problem at source....imo it is unlikely you will lose electrical equipment due to lightning strikes, apart from direct/indirect lightning strikes which this pile of crap wont stop anyway

Wow, Gromituk and talksalot81 are having a hum dinger of an argument.
In an attempt to lower your blood pressures I'll add my opinion.

Gromit Uk does have a point that people should be wary of spending hundreds of pounds on a device which they may not notice the effect of.

However in this case, the device costs less than £20, has a lifetime warranty, and protects a large range of the user’s appliances against power surges.

Also it acts to "purify" or "smooth" the electricity which the majority of the people on this forum won't notice the effect of (no offence). However if you have spent £1,000's on your dream hi-fi because you love hearing the increased detail in your music (i.e. not just buying a really loud one to annoy the neighbours) then believe me you will notice the difference. Especially if you live in a house where every time a large appliance switches on (freezer, fridge, tumble drier, boiler, etc) you get a loud click coming through the speakers - This unit does solve this.

Anyway none of this makes any difference as Dell have just cancelled both of my orders – and probably everyone else’s as well.

" Also it acts to "purify" or "smooth" the electricity which the majority of the people on this forum won't notice the effect of" - this is marketing babble

sorry but there must be something wrong with your hifi.....i have always had seperates.....spent alot of money on denon/technics/tannoy seperates 21 years ago...and just sold it and bought new av onkyo/denon/kef stuff instead......if have bought decent equipment then you wont need this as it shouldnt pickup the problems you describe.....or perhaps you have cut corners in the cabling department...like alot of the plebs on houtukdeals where i had some heated debates with some clueless numpties who thought all cabling is the same eg your hdmi/scart cables from asda are no worse than qed/chord stuff (lol!) and then in the next comment would state they sometimes get picture/sound breakup (lol!)....remember your system will only be as good as the weakest part..

anyway resolve the problem at source....its alot easier

if a lightning strike knocks out your electric this box wont stop your kit being fried......to stop that youll need a either:-

    1) a power conditioner may help that may just get fried before it can do anythinganyway
    2) a ups will help but they can be a little noisy - not good for audiopiles/cinema experience but may not cut in quick enough
    3) a farady cage around your house....may work...and your house will look good...not

none are guaranteed to work either

So, has anyone had one delivered yet?

    Have they all been cancelled?

Has the delivery date been 'slipping' to a date two weeks away all the time???

However, there are an awful lot of people who have absolutely no problems with cheap cables, and making them in funny shapes, sticking silly logos on them and charging a huge amount will not make them perform any better. ;)
