Oh btw, in response to your other question, I'm not sure if i can check how many bids they have retracted in the past, so if anyone knows how to do that, then please let me know!

it used to say on peoples feedback profiles, but doesn't seem to show it now

Ebay removed it from the feedback profile a while ago. It used to show the number of retractions during the last 6 months. Another ebay enhancement that does nothing for sellers.

The number of bid retractions made in the last 12 months shows up on the 'Buyer feedback' tab in the feedback profile of the member. It doesn't give any reason for the retraction though - I made a perfectly legitimate retraction after a buyer corrected both the size and colour of a skirt I'd already bid on....

I don't think too many people take notice of this bid retraction information though.

So you were going to report the seller all along and just wanted someone to agree with you and disregard posts which did not agree with you.

I personally wouldn't report her, like you say she has been on ebay long enough to know you can't do it. So why would she?

People get way too worked up on ebay about the smallest detail and will readily report something which is menial.

For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!

Repeated bid retractions can indicate bid shielding, which is where a bidder sneakily bids and retracts in order to find out the maximum bid of their competitors. A high bid will also deter other bidders, and a last minute retraction may mean that the 2nd highest bidder (possibly in collusion with the artifically high bidder) will then wins item at a falsely cheap price.

Bid retractions can be more sinister than you seem to believe.

Thanks ,thats another ebay fact I have learned today:T

Charlotte ,have you looked to see if your buyer has a history?
    If she does then report
If not ,maybe let it go?

  • I am selling an item, and a seller has retracted a bid saying "entered wrong amount" ... she only entered £5... on an item that has an RRP of £20... so i highly doubt she entered wrong amount. Do i report her for this? or just leave it? It's just abit annoying having people cancel bids :-(

I don't intend to report somebody for this. I am just trying to better understand the way that ebay works.

I had something for sale with a starting bid of £4.99 and had a bid for that amount. After six days the buyer retracted their bid saying "Entered wrong amount".

How can someone enter the wrong amount, when the amount they enter is the starting bid?

As there were no other bidders, and the item did not sell, the original bidder would have won the item for their original bid.

    What am I missing here?
