unfortunatley you agreed to the contract so you will have to pay for it for the full 18 months, if however you have had this 18 month contract for 9mths you will be able to move to a lower tariff to lower the cost. Also if you do find you will have difficult in paying call and speak to debt assitance and they wil arrange a payment plan with you

if you move to a lower a tariff you will get less mins and texts to use, you will only be able to move down to the next lowest tariff but a month after that you can move again to the next lowest again. normal customer service can help you with this
debt assistance is the new name for credit control, it sounds more friendly, if you do ge into difficulty in paying your bill they will be able to cme up with a payment plan but they may restrict your handst to incoming calls onlky until any arrears are paid off.
i would advise you call sooner rather than later as its best to deal with it as soon as you know you may have problems in paying as this way it will show you are willing to pay and stop it going to a debt recovery agency

  • Hi does anyone know if other mobile companys {orange, virgin etc}can buy you out of a contract {say with 02} and transfer to theirs with a different mobile deal. like if they buy out your contract to a different network so you will go with them to a different network, any advise will be great
    Thanks,

  • I know phones4u do it (sometimes). It depends on how long you have left on your contract though.
  • I've heard of carphonewarehouse do this, but don't know if they'll do it for contracts with more than 3 or 4 months remaining. I have no idea if the networks will do this directly. The best option is to go to your local high street and negotiate a deal from the managers in store, because this is not the kind of thing you can get over the internet.

lots of companies do it. go into your local mobile shop and ask.

Phones4U gave me £100 cash to sign up on an 18 month contract with Orange. The idea being that I use that money to pay my bills for the remainder of the existing contract - I probably spent it on something more exciting though ;)

When you say "better network" in what way do you mean better? At the end of the day every network has it's fair share of problems & you may think you're getting away from a bad network only to find you're in just as bad a deal but in different ways.

ps just so you know in advance Virgin is piggybacked on T-Mobile as they don't have their own network system, unless that's changed since I left working for T-Mobile.
