About 6 weeks ago I renewed my O2 contract and took out an 18 month contract with a free blackberry pearl. I was offered it for £30 a month in total but when I received the phone and I noticed I dodn't have any blackberry or data service enabled on it I called up and queried. The person I spoke to on that call initially told me that i was being charged £30 for the phone only and the blackberry service would be an extra £10 if I wanted it. When I told her that I was offered everything for £30 not just the calls she confrmed that the blackberry add-on is available free for some 18 month packages and that is what should have happened but it was left off. She promised it was corrected and everything would work and I would not be charged extra. The next day the blackberry and data service started working.

I suppose you can guess whats coming next.

My monthly bills now show a charge of £10 a month extra bringing my total to £40 a month. Now the initial salesman and susequent call both conformed I would only pay £30. How do I go about getting any joy from CPW? I've called to query it again and they say they will "listen to the tapes" and get backto me but I'm also painfully aware that they will most likely drag their heels or just deny everything. Am I entitled to a copy of the calls or can I tell them to get stuffed and cancel the contract?

Thanks
K

CPW appear to be having major problems at the moment with honouring deals they have offered, you might want to read some of the other threads for an indication of how difficult it is going to be to get this resolved.

Unfortunately without written confirmation of what you were offered, and funnily enough they always claim not to be able to supply this if you ask at point of sale, you will have to stick with badgering them on the phone help line.

I would also suugest that you write today and explain exactly what you have said here with all the relevant dates and so forth, and send it SPECIAL delivery (do not use recorded) to their registered London Address. Insist that you go onto the contract you were offered and stay firm, be polite and just keep restating your case.

  • A copy of the tapes. I had the same trouble when i got a pearl on orange and cpw said that i would have a data bundle included but on phoning orange up it wasn't there but i was in fact charged twice for the same bundle. Managed to get it sorted as orange were real good about it. Never ever going

I personally would have recorded the call at the time. ALWAYS record calls for these types of situations. Ask for their full name and their department they work for when speaking to them so if ever they try to deny something later, you win, they lose. That is how it works today.

Can you tell me how you record your calls? I would be happy to do so just don't have any idea how.

I'll see how it pans out tomorrow but as ever if they refuse to budge I'm the one who gets it in the wallet.

  • You should be able to record it from your in call options. i have a sony ericsson and i can. I would advise however that you let the people know as it is against the law to record a call if the other party doesn't know. Thats why when you phone your bank, mobile network or insurance company they have to state that they are doing so
