  • Thanks John as this gives me an idea of the prices anyone could get the car for.
Im on a partner scheme which means a 17% reduction, £1000 for my scrapheap, and £2750 off the car if you take the finance ( I can pay this back early though).
Hope the moderator does not delet car quake as I went on and its a really good site ,dead quick and efficiens and you can contact the dealer direct. If it comes up with what it promises it looks like a real money saving site.

I think there could be a new Astra model on the way (ie a new specced model)? Might be worth asking about - I know they've stopped producing a certain spec so would imagine they're having a new one to replace it (forget what the name of it was - will try and double check)

Why not?? They're pretty nice to drive and not everyone wants a Focus or a Golf. ;)

Hi i have an astra 5 door 1.4 and i am getting between 34 to 40 mpg which isnt great for a 1.4. the car feels too heavy for the 1.4 and 1.6 engines.

If i were u i would get a diesel but i would go for the 1.9 cdti 150bhp with 48mpg. If you add a dtuk box from http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/ you would get 200bhp and an increase in torque for £329 if you drive it normal you will get motorways 55 to 60 mpg and about town 50 plus mpg.

The 1.7 is a good car but the 1.9 isnt much more money and its a better engine.

If its out of the 1.6 and 1.7 its got to be the 1.7.

After driving a new 1.6 BSM Astra to learn in (the one with the silly indicator switch), it was ok but wasn't particularly amazing to me.

    Why an Astra -

Went and tested all other small cars that I could get golf clubs in - all seemed pretty much similar to Astra or bit better but ive got this vauxhall partner deal and managed to get them down to £9k with fuel/mats/sensory parking thrown in - car valued at £15.5 (would not put that value on it myself) but the bottom line is cheaper than all the other deals by thousands.
So it was a vauxhall really to get the deal.

Sounds like a good enough reaon to me. :)

The reason I asked is you just never know when someone is going to offer a great deal that would be hard to pass up..

I wouldn't value any Astra at £9 let alone 15k, mind you I wouldn't buy a Vauxhall anyway.

I'd add that most other dealers can't get to our prices as our supplying dealer has a special arrangement with Vauxhall to by substantial additional new car stock to sell at a greater discount.

However, as you've illustrated above, you can't just rely on the sale price as most manufacturers have loads of additional promotions / deals running in parallel with each other. For example our prices are not with the 0% finance offers across much of the Vauxhall range...

In the end, focus on 'Price to Change'... not just sale price.

And, finally, don't worry about the car 'snobs' who denigrate Vauxhall... both them and Ford produce arguably the most reliable small and midsize cars in the volume sector. The Astra is not going to be phased out this year as the current model was only introduced 3 yeears ago or so.

Also, all the Vauxhall prices on our site are for genuinely NEW Vauxhalls through a very professional franchised dealer, and factory ordered (unlike some websites I could mention!!).
