And just to add my opinion: Pigsback should have thought things through a bit more. The whole issue of differentiating between 1 account per person with several poeple using the same computer/address or multiple accounts is a bit ridiculous. If they wanted to avoid hassle, they should have just stated 1/household, like so many others do.
As for using Irish and expired links, I'm not a techie but couldn't they do something to make this impossible? It's not really our fault if this is so easily done. If they try to close my (only) account just for using Irish and expired links, I will certainly argue that they are being unreasonable.0 -
Yeh surely for the expired offers they could just remove the webpage for the offer from the site so that this doesnt happen again. As for the irish links it seems like something that could easily be sorted. Even if it involved verifying click throughs before adding the points.
I myself have used irish links as the website does not state that this is not allowed. In the terms and conditions at the bottom of each page it says that the offer is only for https://www.pigsback.com members, which surely applies to anyone who is a member and not just those using the irish site.
I only have 1 account and will contest it if they try to close the account down.0 -
they seem to have removed the option to order any rewards at the moment as well. I now have 1150 points and everything that I look at is listed as being 'available in 8 days'0

Hi supersaver.
When did you join?
When you first sign up to the site you have to wait 10 days before redeeming any points, this is only for the first redemption after that point are available to redeem immediately.

I have been a member of Pigsback for some considerable time now, well over a year, and have honestly gathered my points, claimed my rewards and took part on the site.
I recently had enough points to order two £5 vouchers. These have not been forthcoming, I get the buck passing email about referring to my local post office when I contact Pigsback about it.
I think that these HONESTLY EARNED vouchers won't turn up at all because unfortunately, the greed and dishonesty of those with, often openly admitted multiple accounts has lead to Pigsback cracking down and penealisings honest members with it.
So, to all you multiple account holding cheats - and I know an awful lot of you aren't - thanks a bunch, you've really made my day.
Why were you reading this thread Brunch? If you have been a member for "a considerable time" you know all there is to know about Pigsback! Unless of course you were hoping to take full advantage of other peoples tips while giving nothing away yourself! Looking back through your previous posts, an yes I've read all three of them! I notice you have not given anyone else the opportunity to learn about this site you have been using for "a considerable time"
Yes, people who openly abuse schemes can ruin it for the majority and it is annoying but then so are those who never give a tip or help but take, take, take.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
ahh thanks sparky61 that could explain it - though I registered my account at the start of this week on Monday so that would be five days already. ah well, I'm not in any mad rush to redeem them and 8 days won't kill me. I could do with a lesson in patience anyway... ;o)0

Well since you lot seem to know all there is to know there's really no need for me to give anything away is there?
The reason I've been browsing this thread is simple, to try and find a bit more about what's going on with Pigsback - my curiosity being aroused by my vouchers not turning up and the 'get out clause' on the site.
I will not quote it here as there may be copyright issues but its about missing post.
Honestly, its not a case of take, take, take, as its been months since I've logged into this site. I don't find it particularly useful if the truth be known.0 -
Blaming the people who have multiple accounts for this fiasco is ... well.. dare I say it ? Silly ? Nah, thats too harsh, buck passing maybe ?
I work in I.T and even my company's website removes out of date content and is able to differentiate between members from different countries and its only a teeny start-upWe can also identify duplicate addresses pretty quickly - even changing details like house number etc will still bring it up on our DupAcc list. So... they are basically an incompetent bunch who have not set up their systems properly and now seek to blame people taking advantage of their channel tunnel size loophole.
In fact, they shouldnt cancel an account w/o first asking you to prove you dont have multiple accounts (which btw we can). Bit annoying that I put almost £100 spend of business their way and they turned round and screwed me out of the points Ive earned.
Their cancellation of accounts without any contact with their members proves to me the shambles of their operation. Who does that kind of thing !!!!!!, especially when they havent even covered their a*s*s with proper T's & C's ? Its very public customer service hari kari in an already over-crowded industry.... Greasypalm, RPoints, DabsRewards, Tesco Clubcard, WHSmith Clubcard, Advantage points anyone ?
Deducting the rogue points, suspending the dup accounts till proof of each identity was received, sending a stiff warning and amending the T's & C's would have been my first action. Next I would have sorted out the I.T (Feel free to contact me if you work for pigsback and are reading this btw, I know several excellent web designers). None of this is hard to do, in fact, the first 3 things would take me something like an hour if I was being lazy and stopped for a snack in between.
Well.. the upshot of this rant is I wont be using them again, even if re-instated, as they have just about killed off any goodwill by not bothering to respond to emails - note to pigsback, most companies have some sort of automated acknowledgement which lets you know your mail has been recieved and if you promise to call... call!"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter
