    Good luck! :T
  • I really enjoyed Martins new show and because he verbally explain the MEAF thing i realised that maybe we were owed money too. So check the info required on here and called Halifax first, they wanted my roll number and when i took out the motgage and when we closed it down and within minutes they said i was owed £50 (Very pleased), the secound mortgage company we had been with was Nationwide, they don't deal with this on the phone so using Martins letter tenplate filled in the detail for both mortgages we had with them sent recorded delivery yesterday, check they have been delivered (Which they were this morning) so now we'll just have to wait. Not too sure how much were owed but going by Martins table on MSE site it may be around £180 total for the two, which including the £50 from Halifax would be a nice windfall for 10 minutes effort.:j

Well just a quick up date, i had 2 morgages with Nationwide, one i wasn't owed anything on but, in the post this morning i recived a cheque for £90 :j so my 10 minutes have now earnt me £140. Thank Martin and crew:T
oh and my OH and 2 DS loved the name check on the show :rotfl:

After watching the first show and reading the site about MEAFs I phoned up Lloyds TSB and spoke to a grumpy lady (obviously received lots of similar calls) and she told me to put my claim in writing.
Well I posted the letter off on Monday and today I received a letter informing me that we were going to get back £100 plus interest, so a total of £130.29!:j Our first mortgage was taken out in 1996 and we switched in 2003, so I wasn't sure if we'd get anything so I'm so glad I watched that show and I've been telling all my friends and family to do the same.
    A huge thanks to Martin! :T :T :T
  • THANK YOU SO MUCH.
After missing out on the bank charges claim we were sceptical about any success with the MEAF claim. Having struggled to trace our original lender on line & in your forum (thank you to those who posted replies) I ventured into our hording area & found some statements leading us to Britannic Money form (The Mortgage Corporation).
I phoned & was asked to write to the manager (name requested & given).
This I did & on 15/01/08 & knock me down with a feather a cheque with the obligatory denial dropped through our door on 26th. £225:00 duly engulfed by our overdraft.
    Thank's a million (may be next time).:kisses:

MEAF Success for us too - £100 back within week of writing letter to Aliance & Leicester - certainly 'Pays to Watch' Thanks Martin and team for that little gem!! :T

Have followed your tips for years - have balance transferred and 'Tarted' over and over again....would love to know just how much we have saved  ....NEXT!!!
  • I've been offered £70 from BIrmingham Midshires an £150 from Nothern Rock. The N Rock mortgage was a joint one with ex husband, but he told me I can keep all the money. So I'm £220 richer thanks to Martin and IPTW (or I will be when the cheques arrive)

    Thank you so much!! :j

Right, I clicked on the "be counted" link in Martin's original article on MSE, but not called my old lender (the Halifax - not my favourite company to deal with).

So, now I'm going to pluck up the courage to call them and find out if they actually owe me anything: if so, I'm claiming it.

Update for me: plucked up the courage to call the Halifax - they were very nice, and said that the MEAF I'd paid was what was in my contract; if I'd remortgaged a year later, then they'd have owed me 100 quid...

Apparently, their MEAF reclaim department's gone quiet, and I got the impression that they don't like Martin too much for telling us about this, but perhaps that was more a joke on the part of Rosemary (the lady I was speaking to).
