  • Hi there, I can deffo advise not to make jokes during the time in delivery room my hubby did this (think he thought it would lighten the mood) so annoying. I also had my Mum there which was something I'm glad I did. Didn't scream once, yes I did have eppidural but not until 15 hours of labour without it, believe me it was painful but the breathing helped me concerntrate on everything. I too was scared but it isn't that bad really. Take extra pillows for her, you could leave them in the car so that they are waiting for her if needed. Take photos of baby for her as I forgot all about that and didn't realise hubby had taken pictures so it was a really nice surprise. Also whilst she is in hospital get there as early as possible, I mean whilst on post natal ward. I was desperate to go loo and have shower but didn't want to leave baby in nursry.
GOod luck and let us know when baby born. Just savour every moment.

Yes that's another good one, be there with her in the hospital as much as pssible afterwards. It will not only help you to bond with the new baby but it will be great for your wife too...my DH used to do a "visit" of half an hour or so then that would be it....it is a long day in the hospital with no-one to talk to, plus you sometimes need to share your feelings about everything that has happened or even have a little cry, the body goes through a lot! In fairness he had to get home for the other kids but if you have them time then definately spend it there with her as much as the staff will allow.

Be ready for extreme boredom!!!! My labour lasted for 2 days and my DH was climbing the walls with boredom long before i was climbing them with pain, he said it was ok for me i had the drugs lol!!!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.
