    PVR = Personal Video Recorder

    Basically a box with Freeview and a hard disc in it that lets you record programs, pause them and rewind them etc. Liek Sky+ or V+ from Virgin

    Can I just as a bit more about that?

    Wikipedia seems to say that a pvr is another name for a dvd with a hard disc but other postings on this site seem (to me) to treat them as different entities. Does anyone know for sure whether they are exactly the same thing?

    Also these machines that people are talking about - is there any information on whether they will work with a tv that does not have a scart socket?

    Thanks.

    Asda in Dunbar (well actually just off the A1 at Dunbar) has the Durabrand one for £69 so it looks as if you should shop around
