Are they any good? Am considering signing up to them for my new place - with 3 other students. We will all be using the wireless and thinking about going for the 14.99 a month option http://www.plus.net/residential/broadband/?resheader=broadbandtab
(for 8gb). Wanted to have O2 but they don't serve my area, even though we're in London!
Either that or Madasafish I think. Thank you

Are you sure that a monthly usage allowance of 8GB would be enough for three people sharing!
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
That should be 4 people sharing (OP plus 3 others). I know that our usage (2 people) is under 2G per month but we just do surfing, emails and VOIP. All it wants is one person to discover p2p or download sites (or youtube) and the usage goes sky high.0

We have been with Force 9 (aka plusnet) for years. It is fine and reliable.
THey have had a security problem of recent months with spam though- we honestly did'nt get any for ages, but get loads now. THe filter for junk is set to high on outlook and works though (could delete them as webmail if I could be arsed!). THey have sent email to assure us they are looking into it.0 -

Thanks for that - I don't think we'll be needing an email address as we all have our msn, uni one gmail ones. What speed do you have?0 -

So you recommend more than 8gb then?0 -

For a house of students i'd recommned going with a cable provider. Unlimited & fast speeds! Between 3 of you it wouldn't cost any more than about £10 a month each0 -

Likely to be cheaper installation compared to a BT line as well. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I wish!!! We can't get cable even though we live in London. Have checked with Virgin. Also the BT line didn't cost to connect for some reason!0 -
are sky LLU or BE available in your exchange? would be a much better option, faster, no download limits (8gb is very low for 4 of you, i average 80/month).
if no, then cable can be a good option if you're not in an area with a lot of cloned modems, if you are (student area, probably) then expect to do your beans on toast while pages load.
3rd option i'd suggest is an entanet reseller (vivaciti, adsl24 etc.) 330gb allowance for £20, 30 day contract.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
...and more
looking into plusnet a little more, seems the 8gb is peak (with traffic shaping), with unlimited offpeak (unshaped), so not as bad if everyone can schedule any downloads for off peak. they seem to have a good reputation, happy customers, i'd still be tempted to pay a little extra to get 20gb peak, as another member posted, youtube etc eat bandwidthUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
