The only thing I measure by cup is the flour though - everything else is ml/tsp/etc
  • I'm not sure where the right forum is to post this! I hope this is right.

I have a Frigidaire stainless steel bread-maker with a black top. I think it may also be sold under another name.

I have tried a few recipes from the back of well known flour packets such as Hovis and Allinsons, my reasoning being that they should be the experts in this.

I have had some "limited" success, gradually changing and adjusting the recipes eg a bit less or more salt/sugar etc but still cant get a loaf anywhere like you get from a bakers, even the fresh bread sections in big supermarkets.

Could I ask any of you wise and experienced moneysavingexpert bread machine veterans out there if they have any easy tried and trusted foolproof loaf recipes for bread machines, preferably for white loafs but I'm not averse to granary or wholemeal, to get me a step nearer my holy grail of a loaf as near to a bakery loaf as possible! Mine sometimes seem a little too sweet, or hard, or go stale quickly, or don't rise as high as I would of thought it should.

I apologise in advance if there is another forum asking the same question. If there is, if someone could point me to it or either help me by answering this query I would be very grateful.

    Thank you in anticipation

  • I'd be interested in any replies as was gifted my MIL's unused breadmaker when we moved in together- so far have used Wrights mixes but they always come out crumpet-like in texture; anyone know why?
