  • Hi Tina, go to this site,
    http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/

run by an ex washing machine repair man... its like this site full of helpful people but centred on washing machines. He really rates Mieles, but realises that they are beyond some peoples price range... worth an explore..... we went for a Siemens from John Lewis on his reccomendation and have been very pleased with it

Have had to order one myself only monday! Got a good deal on a wirlpool one from argos. £200 (reduced - should have been £300) if you need the old one taking away they seem to be the cheapest at £5. Some of the places on line where charging £20. Their delivery charge was alot cheaper than most too.
  • I bought one about 3 years ago and researched it intensively.

Which usually recommends Bosch and AEG as Best Buys (and Miele but that's too expensive) but they said you need to go for the ones built in Germany not Spain. I opted for the AEG after finding a good deal at empiredirect.com and have been very happy with it. Beko, Candy etc are cheaper but may not have as long a lifespan or reliability. Others like Whirlpool and Zanussi make some good machines but not so good others so you'd need to check the model is a good one (which you should do anyway).

I got the L76800 similar to this one:

for £350.. unfortunately it's £475 now but look for models/brands you know are good and I'm sure there's something similar out there. It's worth the patience and effort.
