After 4 on line attempts and one telephone attempt, have given up on opening a savings account - they are hopeless!! If you can't get your money in, how on earth do you get it out? Suggest you avoid like the plague.

Be careful regarding getting your money out in that you can only transfer to your nominated account.

I didn't read the terms and conditions thoroughly and thought that I could perform direct debits like I did on my savings account that I closed and used the money to go into ICICI.

It was my own fault but its an example of why the terms and conditions should always be read thoroughly. :o

  • I applied online around a week ago and ICICI just mailed me to request a cheque for the account to be opened. I'm now getting wary of problems when I need to get money out - it could be an emergency...Does anyone have experience of withdrawing money quickly from ICICI?
  • Hi,

I have had a ICICI account for about a year. I have no problems withdrawing money quickly into my linked account. Usually takes about 3 working days. I think it can take longer the first time you do it. Depends on your definition of "quickly" i suppose.

It is advisable to send a cheque for the minimum amount allowed and set up a £1 online transfer both in and out of the account to check that things have been set up correctly before moving larger sums of money into the account. There shouldn't be any problem getting your money out of the account in the usual 3 working day timeframe.

Definately! I was lucky to think of this as the initial money took nearly two weeks over Christmas, but once all set up I managed to transfer a big chunk in a couple of days. Paying in electronically from a on-line current account works fine.

How do people feel about having their money invested in an Indian Bank? I guess it's passed all the UK finacial authority undertakings, so it must be fairly safe.
