ICICI Bank

After 4 on line attempts and one telephone attempt, have given up on opening a savings account - they are hopeless!! If you can't get your money in, how on earth do you get it out? Suggest you avoid like the plague.

What happened? I've not heard anything from them for a week after sending an online application.

Try Icesave no problems here and you mainly hear problems though a good rate from ICICI

I applied for an account last weekend. I'm with you. I've been waiting a week now for the post which supposedly gets sent to you the day after the application. I haven't heard anything.

My money is going elsewhere. Might be worth making a note in the newsletter from Martin. Am sure they will pull their socks up and sort out the administrative problems they clearly have with a bit of pressure from MSE, particularly as the latest on this site is that they have sorted these issues out!

I've opened my account without problem and depostited £10,000 which is currently in the clearing process. I received email instruction/advice at every step of the way. I wasn't in a hurry though. The application process took between 4 to 6 weeks I think; I just lost track because of christmas. Anyway, it seems that some of you have just sent applications a few days ago!? Perhaps if your time frame is particularly short you might find it more useful to open a high street savings account. Security at ICICI is very tight and time consuming, particularly because of home office child benefit CDs going missing, etc. I for one am grateful for this.

I am with the above posters. I have an Icesave savings account and everything went through swiftly, efficiently and have never had a problem. Tried opening one with ICICI and they seemed slow and rather unprofessional on the whole. I certainly won't be touching them.

There is an old saying "It is better to be late than be late" and I think it applies here. ICICI are very security concious. I too have an account with them, it took some time to set up and the fund transfer takes approx 4-7 days. Other than that I am totally happy in getting a pretty decent interest, as good or better than an ISA with no upper limit.

Got the e-mail today and £1 cheque has been sent.
  • Another one in support of ICICI - I've found them to be very good and helpful over the phone. The funds take a while to clear but it's worth it for the high rate. I need to send off a cheque tomorrow in order to open my second account with them!

I sent £130,000 to them a week ago and still it doesnt show up online. Its cleared from my bank but what happens to the money while its floating? I guess they are earning good interest from it meanwhile and im losing interest (in both senses of the word!) and not only that, when I speak to them by phone its a nightmare to be understood and to understand them. I am sooooooo not impressed :(

It should have shown up in your online statement the same day as the direct debit was made to your current account. Or did you initiate the transfer from your current account?
