Carjet Fuel Charges Hire Cars

I find Carjet usually come out cheaper even after fuel has been added but if you book well in advance always check the prices as they do alter month to month and you can always cancel and rebook with no problems. It always used to be possible to request a certain company i.e Record when booking via carjet and if they ever place me with an off airport company I always get them to change it to an on-site one.0

Welcome to MSE.
I hope you compared prices in EUROS!
There's another thread round here pointing out that DoYouSpain are using a stupid exchange rate for conversion (€1.49 = £1!!!).
As you pay on collection, you'll be paying in Euros.0 -
Doyouspain at alicante are excellent for prices and conditions.
Carjet regularly use Goldcar (Europa as used to be) and they have now sneaked in a charge for an extra driver. Of course Carjet along with the majority also deal with companies that charge outragious prices for a full tank of fuel (70 euros) and who takes it back with an empty tank? not many. It really is a complete rip off.
With doyouspain (they book with record) they guarantee that you only pay for the fuell you use. The other week I did a lot of running around and still only had to put in just over 20 euros at the garage across the road from the airport to take it back full.0 -

The problem with the internet is sorting the wheat from the chaff! Some information is good, some bad and some just out of date.
As you imply, DoYouSpain are 'brokers' (as are Carjet and most of the websites one is likely to come across). They arrange bookings with the supplers on the ground. Although DYS 'regularly' use Record. That isn't always the case.
Caveat Emptor. Read the T&Cs.

doyouspain now guarantee that at Alicante that you will not pay for a tank of fuel and only pay for what you use. they also guarantee office on airport. Being as Record are the only 'on airport' car hire company allowing you to return the car with the same amount of fuel then I have to assume that is the only company doyouspain are using in Alicante. In any case when you book it costs you nothing so if you are unhappy with the Company or the conditions then you are able to cancel at no cost. You only pay when you collect the car.0

hi all just to let you all know its not going to be long before recordrentacar follow the rest,in Palma last week and was asked by record did I want to pay upfront for a full tank (good price he said ha ha heard that before) or even 1/2 a tank (another good price ),or bring it back with the same fuel as we get the car, went with the last but it seems they are catching on like the rest,so we all should keep watching their web side to see if and when they change0

And DoYouSpain are still conning folks with their exchange conversion! I emailed them about it the other week and they did reduce the conversion factor a bit. But they are still using €1.35 = £1 so make sure you check the Euro quote - that's what you'll pay.0 -
Steer well clear of carjet / goldcar as they operate a full tank / return empty policy. i was just charged £70 for a tank of fuel in malaga (a seat Leon does not have an 18 gallon tank!).
The fuel gauge was stuck permanently on FULL so we had to keep topping up as if we ran out of petrol then recovery would be at our expense. they didnt want to know when we tried to complain.0
