Carjet Fuel Charges Hire Cars

received a best quote on prices for a small car, collect from Alicante
Airport 15/1/08, after 4 e-mails was finally informed that the fuel cost was 65euro
for ford focus and 55euro for the smallest car they offer, approx 4 both quotes. Going with Record unless anyone hear knows better.

Use Record regularly in Mallorca - no problems, They used to have an offer that if you register on their site, you got 5 points, which equates to 5 euros which you used to be able to apply to your first booking. Even if not still register and book on the website, you will get points after each car hire, these can be used for up to 10% of any further car hires, does not have to be the same location.

Just had a quick look around the site and the 5 EUR is still available.

hi there have used carjet before and when you add on the fuel the so called cheap car hire is not so cheap when you look at it that petrol or dev is a lot cheaper in Spain and you will never use up a full tank you are just giving them the extra money ,I use record most of the time because they dont use the full for empty policy "yet" and the points of from other times I hire from them come in handy ,going to tererife in 2 weeks and got a c/bilingo for 121 euro for the week great price

Do you always get the car you book with record
or do they regularly upgrade you?

I have always got an upgrade but for tenerife I need a big car so had to book it ,if I get a bigger car great, as there is 6 of us and I know I have to make 2 runs to the airport but there was no way I was paying 300 odd euro for a 6 seater

It depends on what cars they currently have on site, in Mallorca I have been regularly upgraded from the cheapest car to next 1 or 2, but you just cannot guarantee it. Best one was booked KA and got a Picasso for the same price.

We've just returned from two weeks at Alicante. Original quote in November for a Renault Clio was €178. Then it reduced to €155. Finally ended at €146!

And we got a free upgrade to a Xsara Picasso!

Well...I've used carjet many times in Spain and actually checked for my In laws trip in May and Record's price for the same car was €96 more!

So, I guess it all depends on where you are going in Spain and what time of year etc...

Besides low season anywhere in Spain you get a good deal heh.

  • In Tenerife, usually the cheapest car hire is at the airport. There are the usual big boys there, but have a search through the web for an english company, who rely on their reputation for future business not the big boy name. Search Google for "car rental tenerife" Typical company is Tenerife Rent a car www.trc-cars.com definitely worth a price comparison
  • I have just booked via DoYouSpain and it was cheapest for Alicante Airport. It seems odd that there is no payment up front. The hire company is Record and based at the airport. Anyone have experience of this arrangement?

I always try to use record ,you only pay when you pick up car ,but if you look at records web site you shouldnt be riped off on the fuel,I'm using them next week in palma and touch wood never had any problems
