hi alll! i originally wanted a gaming computer but seems like my 200 quid budget is just not gonna cut the mustard
soooo is someone gonna make me a nice list of what i SHOULD buy to build the most powerful pc i can within this shabby budget
no need for anything else but the actual pc tower thingy though, as ive already purchased a lcd tv etc for the screen
one mandatory requirement of mine is TWO dvdrw drives would be cool, but apart from that i dunno what would yallll suggest???

LOL you aint going get much for that, I see you asked this in this thread and got answered
I Want To Build A Cheap Gaming Pc
As said most of your large budget will be taken up on the graphics card of £40+ for even the rubbish card, on top of that ram (1gb min) mobo, cpu, case, psu etc and then dvd (another £20+ for 1 let alone 2)
You could get a cheap barebones system for laying music, surfing, word, and odd game for around that price but you really need more for pc gaming Some of the barebones system could with integrated graphics these pc's really aint much use with games tbh. You can of course on some of them update the graphics with a new card if you strapped for cash.
Try this site for barebones

why not jump on freecyle and see if you can grab a free old pc, it will likely have dvd burners and you can reuse the case. after that

you really do need a monitor thought, big tvs are fine for watching tv on but little use for real stuff, if all you want is gameing then why not get a console like the 3600 -
There was a dell offer on HDUK a few days back. Since you're budget is so small why not buy instead of build? It was £185 and you could use the rest to add the extra DVD burner.

go to someone like novatech.co.uk and buy a memory/cpu/mboard upgrade that fits your case.
Why 2 dvdr drives?GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.0 -
search ebay for systems.
I'd also seriously consider getting an XBox if you just want gaming.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
you won't get much more than a 4200+ X2 (dual core amd, same price and slightly faster than an E2160 but overclocks less) with either onboard graphics or a very cheap graphics card for that much, though all depends on what you can reuse from elsewhere and what OS you're using. good enough for playing games released up to a couple years ago, but anything after that is gonna have problems.
edit: if you really wanna go for the best under £200, this is what I just built a few weeks back. it's diy only though (and some stuff is 2nd hand, but it makes little difference most of the time), and if you don't have a spare OS it'll be over the £200 mark. fwiw i can build one of these for anyone who wants it if you're willing to wait a month and collect from the leeds area...
4200+ x2 2.2 GHz processor- £37.99 - ebay
WD2500JS 250 GB hard drive- £24.85 - ebay
GA-MA69G-S3H motherboard (integrated X1250 graphics)- £40.24 - scan.co.uk
Hiper Type-R 480W psu - £20.56 - ebay
2 x 1GB Corsair XMS Ram - £25.83 - scan
S203N DVD-RW (I guess you'll want 2 of these...) - £16.74 (33.48 x 2) - scan
icute white tower case - 19.99 - ebuyer.co.uk
Hiper Case Fan - £3.02 cclonline.com
£169.23 (£185.97 w/ 2x dvdrws)
windows vista educational version - 55.36 - ebuyer.co.uk (though I'd recommend XP, esp. if you have a spare copy/key from an old pc)
£224.49 (£241.33 w 2xdvdrws)
I'm a money saving adict so that's really the best price you're gonna see for something of that spec give or take some ebay luck and a few price drops. you could also get an intel E2160 instead which will OC much better to around 3 GHz speeds but although the processor will be around the same price, a motherboard with comparable graphics will probably cost around £10 to £20 more, and unless you're planning on getting a decent graphics card sometime the extra processor speed probably won't help you much with gaming.
oh and btw, the above board has a HDMI out port which will nicely connect up to your LCD TV if it also has a HDMI port, though you could just as easily use DVI if it was available on the LCD.0 -

afaik you need a business account with PC World Business to purchase with them. You can then purchase online or via their stores if there's a PCWB counter there. it's a shame as they have a much larger range of components available than the regular PC World does yet your regular customer can't get hold of any of it0
