Credit Card arrival

Hey all

I applied online and was accepted for a Barclaycard over the weekend. I haven't had a confirmation Email even though I provided my Email address.

Is this unusual ? When can I expect the card ?

Tried calling their customer service number tonight but by the time I'd navigated through the automated menus it was past the 8pm closing time :T

thx

I'd give it at least 3/4 working days before i started wondering where the card was.

  • Thanks for the response G.

Barclaycard was indeed here in 4 days, pretty speedy service. Not the credit limit I was hoping for though.

I applied for an Abbey National one at the same time.......they're not so speedy. Called them today ( 6 days after the app ) and they reckon it'll take another 4-5 days.

When I apllied for my Abbey card, it took 1 month from the application to receive the card and the pin. It took another month after that to get the details to be able to set up my account online, at the end of november. Since then, I only was able to log in my account online once (the day I registered).
I would suggest to be patient with Abbey, I usually wait one week more after the date they tell me the card should be with me, if you call too often they will cancel the card and and send you another one, and you will start again from scratch.
And as soon as you get the card, set a monthly direct debit payment, just to make sure you won't get a late payment if late arrival of statement or impossibility to log into your account online.
  • Just wondered when your Abbey card turned up and when you originally applied?

    Thanks
  • Hi, still ain't got the card.

Received the application form ( to be signed ) yesterday, applied a week past on Saturday ! I'll be posting it off tomorrow, so I guess another 3 or 4 days. I don't much rate their service, lets hope the credit limit makes up for that.

I'll update the thread when I receive the card.

  • Don't hold you breath.... I sent mine back over a week ago and still haven't heard anything.

Are the Abbey cards meant to be decent credit limits?
  • Dunno about their credit limits saz but their service is shockingly poor. Still haven't received the card, trying to phone now but of course 'all the advisers are helping other customers at the moment'. Well of course they are Abbey, you don't have enough staff on and you're more than happy for people to pay 10p a minute to wait on them. When will the regulators ban this automated telephone fraud.....anyway that's another thread.

Everyone - if you want good service and you need a credit card in a hurry, nae, within a reasonable timescale, don't use Abbey, they are rubbish.
  • Forgot to ask saz, did you get your card ?

    thx

  • Haven't had anything as yet.

I spoke with the Abbey who told me it is taking up to 4 weeks at the moment as a normal time scale because of the transfer over from MBNA.... they are having more applications than staff can deal with.

Don't phone Abbey on their 0845 no...... check out www.saynoto0870.com...... 01908237963 I think!
  • Got the PIN through but still waiting for the card....

    Thanks for that link
