can you tell me, do you get paid for introducing people ?
Yes if we recruit someone then they form part of our team, and we then earn 6% of their sales. You as an organiser would earn 24% until you build up a team of your own ( this is optional) and then you earn the extra 6% too.0 -
Usborne never worked for me, it requires a lot of effort and it just never worked for me, I could never get people to buy, they always went with the book people as they sold usborne cheaper.
Think very carefully before you do this as the new rules are with the starter pack that you have to submit over £100 of new order or you have to pay full value for the sample pack (not sure about the amount) Check you have a market out there first, otherwise you will end up spending your own money.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 102

Ah but Usborne are now competing with the Book People and are offering the same offers on packs of books :j . This made a lot of people happy when they announced it last year
.
I've been doing Usborne for 2.5 years and absolutely love it. The more time and effort you put into it, the more likely you are to succeed and earn lots from it. There have been 5 figure commission cheques issued!!! Wow - how I'd love one of those.
You don't actually get paid for introducing people, but by supporting them, you then earn off of their sales.
Good luck if you join. You can either get in touch with someone directly, or click through the website to ask for more information and Usborne will put you in contact with someone.

So, it's network marketing then?'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

Can I just add my tuppence worth. When my children were younger I did Usborne for a couple of years and the first few months were fabulous, all my friends hosted parties and coming up to Christmas I got into all th elocal nursery schools and sold there and made a fair bit. Then my friends stopped asking me as they really weren't able to keep up the guests wanting to buy, then the nursery schools said that they would really prefer once a year visits as they had so many other people wanting to sell stuff.
I started advertising in the local paper and got two or three parties, but took very little and ended up travelling quite a distance carrying heavy books..
Usborne used to state that they would never allow their books to be discounted, so if someone wanted a book they had to buy direct or from a reputable chain of stores. Then The Works started selling them a 75% off, and even market book sellers started getting hold of massively discounted stock and the party plan died on me.
I won a couple of prizes for being a high level seller when I first started, but the reality of living in a busy town with dozens of books shops and everyone seemingly a member of Red House Books getting discounts just meant I couldn't sell at full value. This probably now works better for smaller communities where book shops are not two a penny within walking distance and people don't routinely buy online.
I did love the books though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I work in education and the common thing now is for schools to host 'book fairs' directly, with no third party seller. Scholastic do this, and there are others. The school will have a book fair, parents will buy books for their children (often discounted books) and any commission goes directly to the school. Most parents understand how this works so are very happy to support the school and buy books this way.
Schools need all the money they can get, and many others companies (Arts and crafts suppliers) are doing this with catalogues - parents take home a catalogue and 25% of their order value goes directly to the school. The school is being the party planner.0 -

In answer to your question yes people would pay the full rrp price. However as its your business when doing Usborne it really is up to you if you chose to discount a book. For example I always have a ' sale box ' which has discounted books in. Customers can then chose to buy a full price book or a discounted book.
Also with regards to books fairs in schools many schools still choose to have Usborne organising their book fairs as they prefer an organiser to come in and run the book fair - sort the paperwork and ordering out and delivering the books all bagged up rather than the school doing this. The school still get excellent commission rates from Usborne.
