problem connecting to Supanet dial up

Options
Trying to help a pal ... he's as "un-techie" as me !! ...

he said " my supanet dial up not working ... hear it dialling and then an engaged tone ... and i get an error page...... their tech services £1 a minute .. refuse to use" .

any easy answers to this ??.... (apart from him buying into a decent phone/broadband package !!) ..

is there a cheaper number for their tech help ??

is his dial up dialling a duff number ??

thanks ,

    No idea about Supanet.

BUT if you want another dialup service as an alternative or backup for now
that is cheap and reliable try the one from namesco which uses an 0845 number (ie 0.5p/minute after 6pm weekdays, plus 6p/call of course)...
    http://www.names.co.uk/dial-up-internet-access.html

ie you have NO relationship/signup with namesco
They get their money from their cut of the 0845 call cost.
Just set up another dialer with those details and off you go.
The SMTP mail server details will let you SEND email while you're online with them.
Should be able to pickup any email from Supanet mail server as normal too.
  • the website say no to 0870 has an alternative landline number for technical support.
  • londondulwich...i saw that as well ... but guessing that somehow those numbers attract the 50p or £1` a minute .. as the comments column does refer to them ...??

and you'd guess that supanet would ensure that a free loophole wasn't available ?

How can 0207 3650021 "attract the 50p or £1 per minute"? It's a geographic number. Their dial up support number is a national rate number.
