Vodafone Handset Upgrade
Just a quick note, if you're going to use Martin's article on "Batter down your annual mobile phone contract costs by up to £600", it seems that Vodafone are a tough cookie to crack.
I called up and said the usual, "I'm thinking of switching to a different network for a cheaper deal" and quoted the deal my girlfriend has just got on o2, which included a £5 per month line rental reduction, a free 3g handset and 100 extra texts per month.
I said I was interested in the motorola E1000, but they said that this was no way going to happen and put me through to disconnections.
Upon speaking to this department, I mentioned the same details as above and agreed they could not match the deal so said they would cut me off!
Amazed, I called back and spoke to a different operator. I asked THE SAME THING AGAIN and they said that yes, they could match the deal.
I enquired why the previous person has declined and she told me that she worked in PROMOTIONS.
So people, if you decide to try this with Voda, ask for PROMOTIONS before you tell them what you want.
