Taken off the shelf for a price check

Options
My daughter and I visited a large store last week and she wanted to buy some soft toys reduced to 50p.The member of staff who was working said that as there maybe a price error she will have to remove them and gave one to my daughter to pay for(we wanted 12).(About 9pm now)
We were advised to call in the morning.

I spoke to the night staff but as the doors to clothing was locked I called at 8am in the morning and the Manager told me they were no where to be found and that maybe that had been put out again.

I suspect the staff wanted them.
Would they tell me when the last batch were sold and at what till?
Maybe a member of staff used a staff discount card.

I guess even if I complained to Head Office maybe they could find me somemore but these are Christmas lines and may not be possible.

  • I suspect you will never find out and just should just let it go! A store is under no obligation to sell a item to you!

Maybe contact HO to see if they have any in another store

    True.

Any items which are mis-priced can be withdrawn from sale for 48 hours before being re-displayed with the correct price. I think you were just unlucky not to get away with a bargain here!

even if they were uncorrectly priced, they have to be sold at that price. its the stores fault, not theres. you should of just taken them to the till

Yea, most large stores, the big chains across the UK/the world will sell you the item at that price, however that is their descretion. They are legally allowed to withdraw the item from sale for 48 hours, before repricing it and redisplaying it.

  • I'm suprised nobody else has pointed this out, but might have been something to do with the fact you were trying to buy 12?! If you'd just taken one to the til they would probably have just let it go, but if the assistant sold TWELVE at what might be the incorrect price, she'd probably get into quite a bit of trouble.

There's getting a bargain, and there's getting greedy. They let your daughter have one at 50p. Seems like your real greivance is that someone else other than you got the 'bargain', rather than you actually wanting the 12 Christmas stuffed toys.

They don't even need to wait for 48 hours they can reprice them instantly with the correct price.

If they were really for your daughter all 12 you will be glad one day theat you didn't buy them. They are terrible clutter and hard to part with.
