Changing my surname - Your thoughts

    He was not a bad stap dad but did have rows and as the same with my older brother got on better with him when we moved out. There was never an issue with my older brother as he changed it back when he was 19 (now 31). And he nows lives away so only see him a few times a year.

    The only person i really wanted approval of was my mum which is why i only talked to here about it (she then told my stepdad). She was fine as i said and said it's only a name and i love you whatever you call yourself so i was so relieved and was very happy all week and felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

    The main reason is that i don't feel a connection to it so why then give that surname to my wife and children and feel regret all my life and just wish i had changed it earlier.

    If i still have not heard from them in the next few days i think a letter might be a good idea. as normally we are pretty close.

    But atm i feel rejected by everyone and my mum ignoring me is hurting me more than my stepdad
