Hey,
Pretty interesting to see all the replys, quite a lot in common, re getting stuff for xmas and birthdays - I too have enough shower stuff and body lotion to keep me going the rest of the year I would imagine! I give sets to people myself, but this year gonna try and get homemade personalised sets for everyone.
Re the straighteners, its personal choice I just feel that the remington straightners I have do a good job and leave my hair in great condition. Gotta have tony and guy products, but buy in boots on offer which is great! Last ages too.
Perfumes and make - up, never really thought about buying online, but gonna try ebay - i like maybelline make up when I wear it but its expensive! Got a load when in America a few years ago so I need to replace it. Will definately check out ebay on that one.:j Debt-Free-Wannabe! :jDeclutter/Ebay/Savings0 -
Check out your local Poundland. I got a large bottle of the latest L'oreal colour care shampoo and conditioner for a pound each when the supermarket is over £3 each for the same 400ml bottles. I saw lots of big brand names stocked there.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

I either buy usual brand when on a good offer, or the cheaper alternative, many of which are just as good. I am setting myself a mission this year to not spend any money at all on toiletries. I have a large stock at the moment and am sending off for free samples when possible. I have £30 on boots card, which will buy me my next bottle of perfume. I will use up all those smellies lurking in the deepest darkest depths of my bathroom.
I dont wear much make up, but again, if I need to buy any, it will be on boots points.0 -

We use up whatever we have before I buy more.
Money was tight, payday was weeks away and we ran out of soap... or so I thought! a quick poke inthe bathroom cupboard produced enough hotel freebies, gift set items and samples to keep us going for 10 months! OK, the bars were not always full size, but they were all usable. MiL's face was a picture when she had to wash her hands using a green teenage mutant hero soap turtle, but it did the job.
Since then, although I have my favourites, we have set out not to waste anything. Did take a while to break certain stereotyped prejudice issues, but OH & DS 1 & 2 now happily use whatever bubble bath / deoderant / shampoo is out, even if it is pink.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
i very rarely wear makeup, i was treated to some perfume for christmas and i'm making an effort to remember to put it on but it's still something i have to remind myself about.
I can only really use the Sanctury products due to my skin, that and acqueous cream to wash my hands so i do lots of hinting for christmas. But i've got loads so am stocked up again for at least a year.0 -
Have stacks and stacks of stuff which I'm desperately trying to work my way through. I tend to grade my make-up so I use my favourite (aka expensive) stuff when I'm going out, and cheaper stuff everyday. When I do have to replace things I try to find offers on favourite brands (loreal, revlon, clinique, no7 always has some sort of offer). I had started to buy cheap shampoo but after spending £160 on a cut and colour I think I should probably put a bit more effort into it. Fortunately a friend bought me a lovely dream hair gift set for christmas so that along with the testers from the hairdressers should keep me going for a good couple of months. But straighteners have to be GHD:D1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0

I usually get hair stuff BOGOF.
As for make up - I try and get as much relevant stuff from boots and build up points on my boots card so every now and then i can go and get some freebie stuff. I also keep an eye out for there No7 £5 vouchers as they do a really nice eyeliner so i always get that as under a fiver! Some of their vouchers are rubbish but some are good like the money off shampoo.0 -
This is where my indulgence lies I'm afraid.
I have brand new GHDs because cheapo straighteners were wrecking my hair. I got them for about £67 from Boots so best deal I could find.
I can only wear Clinque make-up, anything else brings me out in hives and I have very sensitive skin which really needs the three step plus gawd knows what else to look presentable. I've tried without and it's not good.
I get it from work at 25% off and buy when it's 10% off day and there's a gift.
Are we related? Are we twins who were split at birth?
GHDs transformed my life, and although I was not an avid DFW at the time I did find the best deal I could on them.
I'm not a wearer of make-up (well, maybe a touch of concealer now and then) but I do use Clinique face wash and scruffing lotion. It does last a fair while and I use Boots vouchers courtesy of Pigsback to lessen the financial burden.*Everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads*

Before coming on these boards I was a marketing managers dream. As I have curly hair I tried every shampoo and conditioner advertised but still have curly hair. Decided to clear out drawers and found enough shampoo, conditioner, day creams, night creams and small samples to last ages so decided the only thing I would splash out on was my Clinique foundation as I tried others but always came back to this one. I now buy large bottles of bath cream from pound shop, water it down and fill hand wash bottles. I am wading through all the creams so ok for some time. I would love to try GD's straighteners but having bought three different reputable brands and given them away I am reluctant to pay around £100 in case they do not work for me.0
