I tend to go for the cheap bogofs in moisturiser, make-up wipes, shower gels. I usually get branded (but inexpensive) shampoo and conditioner, and I make my daughters buy a branded heat-protector spray for straightening.
I buy cheap foundation, only have one (cheap) mascara, use cheap lipstick, my one big luxury is my perfume, which I only buy once a year, and lasts for about 9 months... I do without until the sales come round again.
I don't buy blusher or eyeshadow or eyeliner, as there are about forty buckets full in the house (various gifts etc), and usually only put on mascara and lipstick on a daily basis. I put on a full face if I have a tricky meeting or 'event' planned!
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I buy whatever branded shampoo is on special but i steer clear of buying more than 2 bottles of anything unless i know it agrees with me. More than once i've bought 4 of a bargain only to find it didn't agree with me n Erin. (Making it into springer spaniels shampoo, my boys looked like they just stepped out of the salon!) OH only uses head and shoulders (bleuch), but buys it on special all the time so we always have some stashed away.

Don't really use make up, but never anything expensive. cheap lip glass/tints from semichem or wherever. I love semichem!!

Moisturisers, again whatever i pick up but not dear, olay day cream at the mo....

    Deoderants, again whatever.

Perfume, whatever i get for a present. Xmas saw D&G Red and CK One this year, so i am full on strong perfume this year!

    See i'm low maintenence me!!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

i use points/vouchers to my shampoo or other bits from boots - or wait for triple points weekends online and go through a cashback site, use a discount code, bulk buy anything on offer and buy enough of my essentials to qualify for free delivery.

I use avon foundation which is about £5 but always buy it on offer - usually bogof or 2 for £8 or something - my everyday perfume is from avon too and usually on offer so buy that too to make up order to free delivery amount and then go through quidco and try and use a code too!

I use Rimmel make up and use make up everyday....but made a FAB discovery recently ...... that you can buy it on ebay for pennies! Few weeks i got 3 x white eyeshadows for £3 - they are £3.49 EACH in boots, also got 3 waterproof mascaras for £5.50 including postage when they are nearly £5 EACH in boots etc. In the end i think i got about £40-£50 worth of make up for grand total of £12 including postage and packaging and it was all brand new and sealed.:j

I have a big box on shelf in my bedroom with all the "spares" of stuff i use so have bought when its been on offer etc and just "shop from home" for it when i run out..

For xmas my mum also made me a HUGE hamper full of the products i actually use instead of usually generic smelly sets you get at xmas which u never use! Mum usually buys me my "for best" perfume for birthday/xmas too - but i always insist she lets me order it - as i always search for the best deal from an online perfume discount place as they are so much cheaper than the high street and then i get cashback too! So it benefits everyone :o:o

not a DFWer but still on a budget. this is what i do.

soap/shower gel/ mosituriser/bath bombs - i have not bought in over a year. i am still trawling through the stuff i have accumilated over the years, through going mad on BOGOFS, and also gift sets that i have received as presents. i would choose toiletries as a gift over sweets/chocolates any day. for those of you that do buy these toiletry items, tesco not only seems to be generally cheaper than boots, but also tends to have better offers.

bubble bath - i never use, prefer plain water. if i get bath bombs as presents i will happily use them, but think the idea of bubble bath is generally a bit silly!

shampoo/conditioner/toothpaste/mouthwash/face mosituriser - i stock up when on special offer. of these items, toothpaste is the only one where i am brand loyal. others, i buy whats on offer, if my faves are on offer then i stock up.

tampax and pantyliners - dont think i'll ever need buy pantyliners again, i have got so many free via the boots AC machines! my periods are really light, so i dont get through that many tampons. buy a box of 50 odd own brand ones from supermarket (around £2) which will last around 4 months.

make up - never wear. im naturally beautiful. take me as i am, or sod off and leave me the hell alone :D drink plenty of water, which helps give you good skin.

shaving - i use cheapo orange bic disposables and some soap/shower gel. its all in the technique i think rather than the product.

perfumes - i get for presents. again, am currently working my way through a huge backlog. send off for samples from the freebie board if you want a bit of variety... you often get 5ml samples as often as you will a postcard.

  • Natural Collection make up is 3 items for £5.
Body Care is good for cheap shampoos/shower gels.
  • I have GHD's & OH MY GOD, they are the dogs bo!!ocks! :D I do have thick wavy hair mind!

I don't wear makeup daily. I use Boots No7 that I buy on offer. Shampoo, I buy what ever 'straight & sleek' brand that is on offer.

My DH buys me perfume when he's abroad.

Also I ask for 'nice' smellies for xmas/birthday.

I've always had "sensitive skin" issues and spent way too much on special sensitive products etc. But then post LBM, had no choice!
I discovered that Asda smart price shower gel (currently 9p and in a hook bottle), shampoo (28p huge green gottle of)and conditioner(36p) were the lowest price as they didn't seem to contain any perfumes! They are great and do the job just as well! The roll on deoderant is good too.

I feel such a fool all these years....the cheaper stuff but with perfumes does send my skin crazy....all I had to do was trade down to the lowest priced range!

Xmas was great, family gave us a box of Molton Brown shower stuff and a load of other toiletries! But, though it's nice to use, I really don't think it does anything more than smell a bit nicer!

Now I know I am an officiALDFW.....I wouldn't have said that pre LBM!!

I confess though that I have kept my foundation brand but only use 1 bottle per year @£22.

Face is Nivea oil free (non negotiable!) but i use all those freebie anti ageing cream samples as body lotion!

I did a bathroom cupboard challenge last year and haven filled it up again!

I use a basic milk cleanser by Asda own brand which is 99pence a bottle and when brought home half is decanted into another bottle and both are watered down by 50%. Just as effective yet not as thick.

I guess it's like the Anne French stuff I used when a teenager.....

I use Boots cleanser, wipes & moisturisers - all Time Delay, and bought with £5 off vouchers, points or from Ebay.

Shampoo & conditioner is CW - bought when on Bogof or special offers in Boots or Tesco.

Deodrant, toothpaste, body scrub - all bought in Tesco / Boots when on Bogof.

Make-up is Estee Lauder - usually presents or bought with points/vouchers.

Perfume comes courtesy of DF for Christmas or birthdays.

Am still working my way through loads of stuff I had stashed before I moved into DF's in September 2006 - have nearly got to the end of the shower gel & bubble baths!

I have eczema, and although the docs say dont use baby cream as it wont do anything for me, I find the bootsbaby sensitive cream works really well. Thats about £2.79 lasts a few months, I dont wear make up really only eyeliner, Ive got super straight hair so dont need straighteners, I also buy all my everyday toiletries on boots.com, when theres good points/deals to be had, I bulk buy baby wipes for my LO to make the delivery free, it saves me trudging to town carrying about 4 packs of wipes.

If I do wear make up I like Rimmel and Maybelline, and No7 theyre quite good so I save for them or when theres an offer to be had.

  • Shower: I buy cheapy shower gel from the local chemist and use a pair of exfoliating gloves, none of the mess and cost of body scrubs and all of the benefits, plus since the gloves work up a lather you really smell nice! I can only use Dove shampoo (hair does not like anything else), so when it's on the cheap I stock up, usually using various loyalty points. Toothpaste and brushes I buy whatevers on the cheap, toothpaste is toothpaste!

Hair: I have GHDs, thankfully these were a present and I'll never go back to any others, as others have said, there is no difference! Have had them for over 2 years and live in morbid fear of them breaking, therefore £100 I recieved for Xmas is sitting in a separate account for if they do break before I g back to work (studying full time abroad atm).

Body lotion etc: I stock up in the sales, last year I got a ton of vanilla body butter in M&S for £2 a tub that I'm still getting through!

Makeup: I use a variety of stuff, Boots No7 foundation, Rimmel mascara, my downfall is Mac concealer at a tenner a go, also Touche Eclat. However these things I source as cheaply as possible online and through Quidco, Touche Eclat I use one a year, Mac concealer even less, so it all adds up. Mascara is all the same I find, so again, Rimmel for that, when it's on the cheap!

Cleanser, toner etc is from the local supermarket for about 80p a bottle, and use Olay basic beauty fluid which is about £3 a big pot over here.

Eeep, that looks quite bad, but in my defence most of it I get for Xmas b'day, so it is VERY rare that I buy any of it myself, and when I do, I do the same as Johanne and look on ebay fr most of the Rimmel stuff.

    Sorry for the essay :-)

P.S. I agree with Toto about some things you just have to have. I don't spend that much money on stuff, and my debt is a student loan and 0% overdraft, so not too pressing. The way I see it, as long as you don't spend over what you can afford/have budgeted, it's ok.
