I posted this on your other thread..
I did and the curtains came out like dish rags they went in the bin and I was soooooo mad with myself.. I tried steaming and ironing them damp but nothing would get the creases out... and they shrank too. They actually felt like felt when they were dry... horrible#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Are the linings sewn in?
I'd just wash them, don't spin too fast, iron while damp.
Yes, the linings are sewn in.0 -

Actually, you've made a very good point that I hadn't thought of - the curtains are full length and I will probably lose the will to live if I tried to iron them :rotfl:0 -

thanks Tanith.
I think that after reading everyone's posts I will see what the dry cleaners say. I think these curtains will be the type to wash and dry horrible.
Thanks for the posts, everyone

I have washed curtains before using the wool program - but only ones that were so cheap that it was just no point in dry cleaning. They were ok but made either of thin cotton or synthetic and did not have lining.0

I have washed my suede effect dry clean only lined curtains, they too are floor lengh, came out fine on a 30 degree wash and just hung them wet for the creases to dry. Make sure you get them out as soon as the machine finishes though and the creases are not too bad.Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0

Hi lovethymini,
I've merged your duplicate threads together. The problem with washing curtains can mean that they shrink or if they're lined the curtain and lining can shrink differently.
We have an earlier thread that has some advice:
Curtains - Dry clean or wash them myself?
I'll add your thread to that one later.

Hello!
We're looking at buying a lined pair of silk curtains that have been used and need to be cleaned. Of course, they are really really large and I would want to try cleaning them using a washing machine at the local laundrette. What do others have to say?
Thanks!:A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0
