Unless you manage to find the person who hit your car, you will lose your ncd if you make a claim. Maybe the car owner can make a claim on their policy if they were cover for comprehensive, not nice to do for them as it would increase their premium next time around and for a number of years. Excess will depend upon what your policy cover states.
Sorry to hear your tale. Hope you can find the person responsible.0 -
If you are Third Party (TP) you will not lose your NCB as you will not be able to claim for damage to your own vehicle on your own insurance. What I do not understand is, if you were borrowing the vehicle whose insurance were you driving it under? It sounds like your own that only covers you TP in non owned vehicles.
If the vehicle owner's own insurance it Fully Comp then he possibly would be able to claim and, depending upon his policy, may lose some or all of his NCB. In additiopn there would most likely be an excess to pay. This could be anything form £0 to £250+. On this basis if the claim is only £300 you/he would not to assewss whether it would in the longer term be cheaper to pay for the repairs outside the policy.
You may be lucky and trace the other driver. But, if the registartion taken by the neighbour is not correctr I am not sure how you would do that? Even then, trying to prove that it was the car that hit your vehicle and who was driving would be very difficult.
Unfortunately I think you are going to have to accept that you have been hit and are unlikely to recover the costs in any way from the third party. You have just become a statistic!!!0 -

I think the police are more likely to consider they have more important things to do, unless they think the culprit is a little scroat they have been trying to catch for ages. You should give them the information you have and take it from there. You may have to insist that they investigate, but don't expect it to be anytime soon.0 -
If there is witnesses think it can be claimed from the criminal damage court or such like but may take a long time.2p off is still 2p off!0

how do you go about this criminal damage thing?are you thinking what iam thinking :T0

You have two options.
1. You make a claim for compensation in the criminal proceedings brought by the police.
2. You issue County Court proceedings for the costs of repairs.0
