I found a deal on www.holidayextras.co.uk last night for 2ads and 2 kids one night hotel, various to choose from including a couple of hiltons, including breafast and park passes for £139, I thought this was brilliant?

am set on camping and the star one recommended seems to be perfect! if its one mile we could walk! but does anyone know if its accecable from the camping site?

and are you allowed to use money off vouchers or special deals when using tesco vouchers?
the kids loved legoland and we went to disney last year so think they would enjoy alton towers, and if i use tesco points and im wrong its nothing lost really as i havent forked out a fortune, thanks to all for your replies x

If they stick to the T&C's you can't but some places you can get away with it.

In the last couple of years, we've used Clubcard Vouchers and other money off vouchers together at Flamigoland, Eureka and Magna but been refused at The Deep and Pleasure Island. I've not used Tesco Vouchers at AT so can't advise specifics for there.

We last went to AT a couple of years ago on a freebie and I wouldn't be racing back to pay full price. IMHO there is not enough for younger kids (mine are 8 & 3) and you spend all day walking around the same few rides. That said Charlie and the Driving School were both very good.

For younger kids, I'd recommend both Flamingoland and Drayton Manor which seem to have more for the whole family. Drayton Manor are opening a whole areas themed on Thomas the Tank Engine this year, which is bound to be a winner with the youger ones.

I went with my two last year (9 and 6) There wasn't enough to do for youngest and we kept having to split up. Although you can't use tesco vouchers the best place we have ever been to is Paultons Park, outside Southampton. The kids can go on EVERYTHING! if they are under a metre you don't have to pay, we have never had to queue for any rides. Just another note avoid Port Aveventura even my 9yr who's is a speed queen couldn't go on much, was a complete waste of money.
Why didn't someone kick me up the backside earlier:mad:

You can definitely pay your park entrance with Tesco Vouchers but I'm not sure about the camping.

Thinking of going down myself in the summer. Let me know what the campsite is like.

you can pay for entry to drayton with tesco vouchers and they will let you use another voucher at the same time such as a 3 for 2, etc. which often works out cheaper than buying a family ticket.

my eldest is tiny and at ages 4 and 8 he preferred drayton manor to alton towers. my 2 year old is a giant and he absolutely loves alton towers. it depends what rides they like, he loves the pirate ship, hex (haunted swing), charlie, runaway mine train etc. but he didn't like the enterprise. he insisted on going on it but i should have said no, knowing how it makes me feel lol!

i think your 8 year old might not get a lot out of alton towers, especially if the children will be going on rides together. because i live nearby and we are there all the time in big groups we tend to split up so different aged children get to go on the rides for their size. if this is a family trip you probably wouldn't want to do that - and if you do split up alton towers is massive - even on rare occasions when the cable cars are working you will be miles from each other.

drayton manor is all huddled together, perfect for one person to just nip on one ride while the other goes on something else. drayton manor is a really good family park with something for everyone. alton towers has that too but it's just so big and it's split into lands, with nothing for little ones to do if you're near the big rides etc.

i'm not knocking alton towers - we buy annual passes and practically live there :rotfl: but as a family day out as a one-off it doesn't really work well for different age groups. also, drayton manor has the most amazing drop tower :D

i've never camped there, it's only an hour's drive away.

my mum said something about zoo vouchers on kelloggs packs but i haven't checked it out yet - someone she knows mentioned drayton being part of the 2 for 1 offer.

hi - i live near alton towers and we take our boys age 3 and 5 - they love it. there is definitely enough to keep them occupied for a day - we had to miss a few things out. there are some very nice campsites nearby as alton towers is in the middle of beautiful countryside. you could walk to the park which saves on parking if you dont mind a bit of a walk (not far from the actually campsite to the entrance - its just getting from the entrance into the actually park thats a bit of a way!). there are alkso lots of lovely little b and b's nearby.
