.... make sure you read the final para on the initial page this link gives (need of existing Halifax Websaver / current account)
Sadly, a current account isn't enough. It's the websaver they want us to have. I have an existing current account and would rather not have to bother applying for a variable websaver and go straight for a 3 month fixed.During application, it is clear that a variable one is required.Unfortunately a technical hitch is preventing my application.0 -
Transferring between Sainsbury's and Halifax coudn't be easier. Halifax to sainsbury's is instantaneous, Sainsbury's to Halifax is over night.
For example, I actioned a transfer request early evening on Monday this week, and it's only just arrived this morning (Wednesday).0 -

I've always opened a fixed Web ... from a variable. But I added the 'current account' ... as I know others, on here, have opened / funded it from there. And you should be able to as it's in the Halifax description (provided it's online registered??) :-Fixed rate Halifax Web Saver can only receive the opening deposit from a variable rate Halifax Web Saver, or a Halifax or Bank of Scotland Current Account registered with our online serviceIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Mines just matured today... 70 quid on 5k, for the 3 months.
One thing you do need to double check though is if you're instructing them to roll it over into another 3 months... Mine hasn't done it... Cashier couldn't instruct it to do it (her screen insisted on making it for 6 months), so I phoned up and they assured me that the Savings Dept could do it....
Has it done it? No.......... Instead it's stuck with my original instruction to push it out to my Sainsbury's account.... There's a bit of confusion over whether it's a glitch, or if it's all my fault, because it needs at least 5 working days to take any instruction of change....
Doesn't say that anywhere, unless I ignored the letter I'd received, because I thought I could do in all online and certainly in branch and on phone, I wasn't told this....
Basically......... keep your eyes on it, if you want to roll it over....0 -

You can do it online. There's an option screen allowing you to vary the original maturity instructions - allowable to within 5 days of the end date.
Covered (I think - 'cos I wouldn't have looked otherwise) .. in the maturity letter. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
