Car hire excess claim problem

I have recently registered a claim on my annual car hire excess policy. The claim relates to minor damage to a hire car in Sardinia.

The car hire rental company have not provided a damage repair report despite several requests from myself. The insurer will not progress the claim without this report and have told me to request a `charge-back' on my credit card. I have done this and provided all relevant documents. The case is now under review.

My car hire excess policy has now expired, but I understand the claim is still valid as it was registered within the policy dates. I am reluctant to renew policy as I am not impressed with the insurers. Any advice welcome please.

What has the insurer done wrong? It doesn't seem unreasonable to require a report confirming the damage...I would be more inclined to blame the hire company.

In terms of advice, keep chasing the hire company for the report, and wait for the outcome of the chargeback/s75.

Where did I say it is unreasonable to want a report? I have contacted the hire company several times as stated. Thanks for advice.

You said you weren't impressed with the insurers....as the only thing you mentioned about them was asking for a report I assumed that was the issue. If it was something else then I apologise - maybe provide those details too?
