Monday - gym then 75 mile round trip to check on my 94 year old uncle and sort his medication, took him out for lunch and spent the day there. Traffic on the M1 was particularly challenging.
Tuesday - picked up some new glasses then an afternoon Spanish class
Wednesday - Gym in the morning, bought a discounted fan for next summer, out for a meal in the early afternoon to use up The Ivy loyalty points (sore point)
Today - morning zoom French lesson with my tutor and a walk into town to get a shingles vaccine but had a browse around as well. Put £5K non ISA cash into a one year fix at 4.7% (Monzo)
In between, every day read a bit, french and spanish practice on apps and homework as well. Saving the cleaning for tomorrow and the weekend given the weather.

Dealt with a maturing gilt in my SIPP gilt ladder. Took some out as UFPLS withdrawal and fed the rest into the back end of the ladder.
Sold enough of my wife's SSE privatisation shares to use up this years CGT allowance.
Attended the initial online session of intro to archery course (because managing finances isn't my only retirement interest :-) )
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.1 -
I just kept busy doing nothing really, much the same as any other week. Then when we get bored of it we go on holiday. We then come back and we are ready to keep busy doing nothing again. Lovely jubbly!

Did a bit of charity work, now deciding whether to shift a (small) soon-to-mature 1 year cash ISA into another 1 year fix, or transfer to an existing S&S ISA………..decisions 🤔

Had a wonderful time travelling round Tasmania with DW and a couple of friends. After years of accumulating, it's time to spend some of it!

Weekly activity: Okay, so I’m not yet retired (just dipped under 7 weeks to go now);
- Offered someone a job in the team at work (other interviewers prepped to be more active decision makers on this, it's a verbal acceptance to date-they plan to start in January) (Confident they'll be a good recruit, but I won't get to work with them !!)
- Finalised one big win at work on commitment to new project / progressed handovers in few more areas;
- Had a good cycle ride at w/e with OH and we met up with one DS and his girlfriend at cafe rendezvous (very nice catch up);
- Did another session (late afternoon/early evening) at volunteer organisation I’m trying out before greater commitment likely from January (think going quite well – I like people encountered so far);
- Planning for early 2027 big trip away (South East asia) progressed, did a session playing around with skyscanner and “flightconnections.com” to get bit firmer handle on overall itinerary;
- Remembered (/ checked) need to apply for new passport late November /December for completing said trip;
- From general admin task schedule - Cancelled one Permanent Health / Income Protection Insurance policy as remainder of term made it not cost effective (no payout for 6 months/ finishing in a few years in any event, so self-insuring (& saving £55 pcm) (term was from an old mortgage))
- Had one gilt mature 22/10/26 (T26A I think) in my investment account -for utilsiing Jan-Mar next year before new tax year;

I probably shouldn’t have said reduced, just cheaper. We just got a cheap pedestal fan from Argos. We didn’t have one before but in the summer they were either not available or silly money.

I too received divvies from Bell via my ILG ladder. I've invested them - BGEO and The L&G Cyber security ETF as it happens.
Decided to sell the Vanguard Europe ETF - My view is the funds held within it are going nowhere. Proceeds went to buying more of one of the global tracker ETFs. For sure it reduces my area diversity though - one to think about.
Prepared the motorbikes for their hibernation up here in the Tundra, took another splendid e-bike ride up and down a nearby glen - the autumn colours are divine in the sunshine - and continuing my attempts to make an insulated room in the attic. Made more focaccia….

This week? Not much really. Finally downgraded my Revolut account from Premium to Standard, saving £7.99 a month versus a few pence of interest, then ported the balance over to Bunq on the offchance of winning their "double your deposit" promotion – Spoiler: I didn't. Lost nothing though, which is the kind of bet I like. Might enter again before the end of the month if I have anything lying around.
Oh, and eight doughnuts for the price of four at the Co-Op.
