Water standing charges
Are there any plans to reduce water standing charges? Realised its now about 2/3rd of total bill. Getting worse than energy sc and again penalises low usage users. Paying more and getting less with all the hosepipe bans!

I've not heard anything in relation to water standing charges being reduced, ultimately the infrastructure has to be paid for and the cost of that infrastructure is the same no matter how much you use.
You must be an extremely light user if your SC makes up 67% of your bill, the SC makes up less than 20% of my water bill.

It is not "penalising" low users, the water supplier is till required to maintain the pipework for both potable water and sewage, they still have to have the capacity in the network and you can still consume water on demand, that is what the standing charge covers. The cost per cubic meter then covers your usage.

To be honest I've never noticed the standing charges. I get a credit at the end of each year despite hose pipe and a bath because I've used less than expected for which I'm grateful.
It's the electric where I'm paying more in standing charge than what I use which is beyond annoying.

We use £40pm with £20 being standing charge I rang Anglian water twice for a cheaper tariff but did not qualify for their lite tariff as not on benefits.
