Implied threat from Virgin Media?

I'm fairly sure that I've read somewhere that the new boxes will not record radio programmes, but VM don't tell you that before you "upgrade". That will be important for some customers.

That does appear to be the case.
Did the older boxes have this facility?

The OP's quoted message says "
We're upgrading customers from older TV equipment to Virgin TV 360"
The TV 360 box can record programmes. It's their Stream box that can't record.1 -
What do you think the threat is ?
What do harm do you believe you will come to ?
Is this financial harm Or Physical Harm ?
or simply inconvenience if they cut over to the new system before you leave and you lose recording ?
Have you considered speaking to a Mental Health Professional ?you do realise that you own neither the box nor any media stored on it , this isi in the T+Cs you signed up to

Can you recommend one?

Correct, what it can't do is record radio programmes while older boxes can.

I really cannot see what the issue is here, there is no threat, implied or otherwise, there is no issue, the device will have more functionality than the old one and the old one will stop working regardless of what the OP does. I also do not really understand how recordings of TV programs could be "precious", even more so when almost everything can be found online anyway and if there was really some unique, shown once and then destroyed content recorded to the box it would be easy to make a copy of it anyway.

If I understand it correctly, with the VM service, the equipment all belongs to VM and is rented on a monthly basis via the fees charged. This is why the VM service includes repairs while some other brands (where the subscriber owns the equipment) do not.
Clearly, VM have decided that the equipment the OP has needs to be replaced with new and there has been a communication advising that is a replacement programme. Nothing threatening though.
If the OP does not wish to have the equipment upgraded and choses to end the contract instead, that is the OP's prerogative. When the contract is ended, VM will require the equipment to be returned to them.

Copy from the old box? Can't be done except by intercepting the video stream being played in real time with extra kit, and even then it might not work/be of very poor quality.
Or do you mean find another (presumably online) source?

It could be useful to the OP, and others, if you could link to or post details of the easy way to copy programmes from the current box to some other medium. Might allay some concerns that people have when having to go through this upgrade.
