and because of the cost I couldn't afford to leave the house - and because of the house I couldn't afford to get to jobs or relocate to get a job.

Sorry to be nosy, but I don't get this part... Why couldn't you afford to leave the house?

To leave the house you have to have money.

You stand at the front door - where are you going? Pub - money; for a walk - money for a coat/shoes; shopping - no point, no money; course - course fees + 50-70 mile round trip for a 2 hour class (limited classes too, couldn't even do A level Maths for a 60 mile radius); club - no money to join, no money for drinks, need new clothes (no money).

    :)

Sell the house. Sorts it all out!

just wondering pastures new how you pay for the rent, food etc doing very little, please share so we can all do it.

1] Sold the house - banked the money - interest earned.
2] Built a website that brings me in some cash
3] I do a spot of home typing.

Overall though, I was leading a really really poor life where I was. I had been IT contracting when I bought the house, market collapsed. Big mortgage - local work where I was was seasonal and mainly at minimum wage, so over the last 7 years I've probably had a mortgage of about £65k, with earnings of £8-9k/year. I was basically living off a 2nd mortgage I raised and I knew that was unsustainable.

I now have a bigger income than I have had since before I bought the house.

Time for reflection and relaxation. Time to find out who I am and what I want.

How long could I keep this up? Actually, forever, to be honest. I don't have a need to buy another house. And the desire's not there.

What's your website (PM if rude or you want to be descrete)
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

ha ha ha. It's not rude. I won't PM it though. I am embarrassed by the design/functionality of it - it's pants. Did it all for free really. And I should be ripping it apart and starting again.

But, the website is irrelevant. I could make money out of any website. In fact, Plan B is supposed to be do something with it. Although it gives me a regular income, I've not even looked at it myself for 7 months. I've been moving about a lot etc.

This year I had planned to port my site over to a new server, cull the rubbish, update it. Then to create another from scratch - and this time document it. I have a couple of really poor friends and I was going to put it down step by step for them to copy. . . not that they probably will mind you, people will moan they have no money, but when they realise the effort you have to put in to get free money most aren't tenacious enough to follow it through.

Then I will create more probably. I have quite a bit of internet marketing experience going back up to 10 years. I was always held up by time/money in doing anything for myself in the past though. Supposed to be off to Atlanta this April for a seminar, although I am not finalising any booking just yet.

    I'm a geek :)

    Go-on, go-on, go-on, go-on, go-on.

I'll be kind. I'm just curious that's all. You should see mine, it's awful!

Going back to the original post, yes I get hassled about buying a house by my family & the in-laws. If I took notice of them I'd be homeless now so it shows what they know about buying houses.
