When the case was called I explained that they had got the wrong person, our names were similar spelling.

Not quite the same, though, is it?

The police do not have the wrong person and any prosecution which might follow will not target the wrong person. The OP knows the FP offer is for him. He knows what it relates to. His question was whether a very minor error in the name on the offer provides a get-out-of-jail-free card to allow him to escape penalty for the speeding offence, which he knows he committed.

And the answer to that is very clearly “no”.

The other questions, which concern the mechanics of how he can pay the penalty and how the endorsement and points will be correctly attributed to him are side shows.
