Flooring company refusing to reinstall laminate unless we pay for subfloor repairs

The independent fitters (not Tapi) cost £600 to refit the laminate yesterday, and Tapi agreed to refund that amount to us as a settlement

So in reality you have just kicked the sub floor issue down the line.
Do the new fitters know of the floor issue?

Yep, any other option simply wasn't viable for us. We're aware that issues may crop up, but we're hoping the floor will last for the remaining time we're in the house without needing further expensive work.
Both the company owner and fitters knew of and were demonstrated of the ‘problem areas’, neither considered them a reason not to proceed

So if the issue happens again will you have to go after the new company who fitted the flooring on top of the subfloor that has caused issues if the issue reappears later on for compensation or to relay the the flooring again?
As mentioned it's just kicking the subfloor down the road so to speak.

I wouldn't class it as a "total win", but I get why you're taking the path of least (immediate) resistance. Hopefully the new floor lasts long enough to see you through your ownership of the house. It'll take a hammering with a rampaging toddler!

Possibly, but we accepted this risk. It is kicking the can down the road, but as said many times before, we could not afford anything else.
Thanks mate
