I have just made an offical complaint to Thames Water and they have instantly dismissed it.

If you do the sums the actual balance is £133.82.

Although the invoice was raised on 13 Aug, the payment on 03 Aug was never made. Thames contacted me on 14 July to advise that there wasn't a payment scheme in place.

When I spoke to Thames about this “invoice” they advised that the payment was returned on 04 Aug. So 9 days prior to the invoice being raised. So for me the payment on 03 should not be on it.

They have agreed that their use of the English language is incorrect, the payment was never made, so it could not be returned. But have not done anything about correcting the situation.

My point is the payment is on the invoice, therefore it should be included in the balance.

They have it wrong, not me.

I agree that it is a badly presented invoice. As you say if the Aug payment is included then the total should be £133.82. But they are correct in what you owe, £170.14, as effectively the Aug payment was never received by them.

How much is your time worth to get the paperwork sorted? Given that you'll still owe the £170.14. Granted a bit of compensation is always nice.

by not producing an accurate statement of the account.

@Brie given the on going issues I’ve had with them (the £219 given back to me was £150 but they couldn’t manage to get that right) I’ve all the time in the world. I previously moaned that I couldn’t change water supplier, however I’ve now changed this to “if I’m stuck with you, Thames Water then your stuck with me”.

I’m under no illusion that Thames Water is far from a functional business as possible. The last year has been nothing but complaints.

Nothing to forgive, your comment was fully factual and pertinent to the situation.
