Tribunal awarded PIP - when to expect first payment?
So after a long and stressful process, my wife was finally awarded PIP at the tribunal hearing. The hearing took place on 7th September. In the same week we received a letter from HMCTS confirming the decision. But it's now almost four weeks and we've yet to hear from DWP about the payments.
My wife will be due at least a year's backdated pay, so I imagine it might be taking some time for them to calculate that. But I wanted to know does it usually take this long? I've resisted giving them a call to find out, as it takes forever getting through to someone.

It shouldn't take any time to calculate the amount they owe her - they simply enter the date your wife was entitled from, and the rate she has been awarded, and the system calculates it instantly and raises a payment.
I'm afraid you are either going to need to sit tight or give them a ring, explain your wife was awarded PIP at tribunal and enquire the status of her claim as you have yet to hear anything from them. By phoning, at least if it has got stuck in the system, the telephony agent may be able to give things a nudge to unstick it.
Are you claiming any other benefits such as UC? If so, if the arrears of PIP are more than £5,000, they are disregarded as capital for the lifetime of the UC claim.

It can take up to 8 weeks for the DWP to sort everything out following a tribunal win.
