Hi
Does Anyone Know What Medical Conditions Qualify For Free Prescription?
Our Eldest Daughter Is Epileptic And We Found Out By Accident That She Was Automatically Eligiable For Free Prescriptions, If I Had Not Been Searching Through For Information About Epilepsy We Would Not Have Known, The Doctor Di Not Mention It To Her, Although She Had To Get The Form From The Doctor And For Them To Sign It.
I Have Polyarthritis & High Blood Pressure, I Also Suffer With Migraines, So Perscriptions Were Costing Me A Fortune, I Now Have A Prepayment Card.
Thanks In Advance For Any Info You Maybe Be Able To Provide

- Forms of hypoadrenalism such as Addison's Disease.
- Diabetes insipidus and other forms of hypopituitarism.
- Diabetes mellitus except where treatment is by diet alone.
- Hypoparathyroidism.

Yup,
Doctor to me;
"well the bad news is you have hypothyroidism"
Me;
"You mean there's good news?"
Doc;
"Yes, you now get free prescriptions for life":j
Friend has diabetes, he tells me that qualifies as well.
B.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I too have to take thyroxine daily for life (thyroid removed), and I do not pay prescription charges.
You have to be taking thyroxine long term though to qualify...just in case many are reading this and thinking they may be exempt from charges.
If you think you may be exempt you need to ask your GP for a form, that you fill in and send off. If you qualify, you will be notified, and sent an exemtion card.
hope this helps somebody.0 -

But any thyroid desease is permanent and will not improove as I understand it?
I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, not common for a bloke, and I didn't even know I had the condition as my symptoms were not typical and were only proven by a general blood test. Within a fortnight of being issued the first prescription I had the exemption cert.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Well we Welsh suffer with Rhodri Morgan Syndrome, which entitles us to free prescriptions.Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before0 -
