Many of us will have both, and plenty of others too

I was making a comment on the ever-advancing opening dates for Nationwide Regular Savers, not analysing my optimum strategy.
I'm in the fortunate position that £10 is no longer of any significance, and I only do RSs out of habit.

Surely it depends where that £200 would be otherwise. A lot of these are comparing against leaving it earning zero when in reality it would be in an easy access of another RS. In that case you are talking about £200 earning an extra 1-2% for 11 months. Seems a lot of stress.

That's fine, but others might have been misled by your comment and believe someone in this position would actually be £10 worse off as a result - which is absolutely not the case.
In your position, it is really not worth trying to time it. The actual difference will be a fraction of that £10 originally posited. Those who do go to the effort, will get an additional ~£3 for their troubles.
