Debenhams online deliveries really are pants!

I'm (luckily) getting a 4-slice Tefal Avanti toaster (£24 delivered) that I ordered on 28th December in the next few days(??) as I've actually had an email today to say it has been despatched.

That's really poor, even allowing for the one public holiday!!

There seems to be some sort of ongoing competition between Debenhams and M&S to see who can provide the worst online shopping experience:rotfl:

(I've recently had bad experiences with both:mad: )
The main difference between M&S and Debenhams, in my experience is that with M&S I was told about the cancelled items after 4wks, whereas Debenhams is within a few days. The problem being that a cancellation after 4wks means that you are unlikely to be able to get similar items from elsewhere at a good (sale) price.

M&S also didn't bother calling me back after I rang them, as well as refunding me incorrectly. Never ordered from them since. Complete monkeys!

I've also had cancelled items from Debenhams so have stopped looking at their website as it's a complete waste of time.

How disappointing. I get all my pants from Debenhams.

Their online service is one of the worst on the internet in my experience. I placed two orders last Christmas, one for an iPod transmitter, for which I was charged more on my credit card than the amount at checkout, and the other a dining table and chairs set, which took weeks to come. The frustrating thing was that customer services did not have internet access or access to our orders. They did not know when the goods would be dispatched, who the carrier was or where my order was. There appeared to be no way of finding this out either.

Absolutely appalling. I vowed never to order from them online again.

I will instead go instore to buy all my pants. Very nice.
  • I am not happy with Debenhams either. Had ordered two items of clothing with them, only to have delivered one of those items in sorry state of packaging and a piece of JEWELLERY!!?? totally miffed.
    Whether we win or lose,
that we played at all was a winning decision. :D

Did you manage to get a refund from them for the overcharge?

This has just happened to me - they've charged my credit card nearly £50 more than confirmed at the checkout. This was despite the confirmation email from them showing the correct amount. It has also tracked at the correct amount through Quidco:confused:

So far they've ignored all my emails and after reading other comments on here I'm not sure whether to just try and cancel the order completely and pursue a full refund?

The online sales shopping hasn't worked very well for me this year at all. The main reason I tried it is because I've had flu and haven't been able to get out to the shops. But now all the stress of trying to sort out the problems with both Debenhams and M&S online orders is not really helping my recovery:rolleyes:
